Teslong light flare - can it be fixed - Updated with results

I have had the Teslong rigid unit now for a year. At first I just looked beyond this issue but I feel that it shouldn't be doing this.

I have tried reducing the light intensity even top the point of almost off but it still drowns out the image. I thought maybe this is from the area between the mirror and the end where the LEDs are so I painted it flat black. Didn't help.

Does anybody have success with this as I am only getting less that 50% area to look at with clarity.

Thanks in advance

A mirror replacement from Teslong offers a mirror with a different angle. It really helps in most cases. As far as I know those mirrors come with a red band around the shaft portion for identification purposes.

I will check into that

Thanks

Take a sharpie and blackout 1 led or maybe just a tiny pc of tape, it may help may not, there is plenty of light 1 blanked led could be good

I blacked out three of the six little LEDs. It didn't seem to make much difference.

It looks to me that the problem is with the auto exposure in the camera app. No matter how much light is there, it adjusts to make that bright glare.

My images look much better in my image manipulation software (Capture 1); the images themselves are OK but Camera and Photo Album don't display them well' The detail is present in the images but you need a good imaging application to see it.

what if you put a small cover over the light end, like a small porch hangin over the led side, pc of tape I have one but I'm confined to walker so no experimenting for me, shadetree teslong bottle rocket engineer, graduated 54 out of 41

On the other hand, I think they have been EXTREMELY responsive to what we have identified as issues with the product -not too many companies have changed the face of shooting like Teslong.

While i agree with that statement i still feel they are not putting out the best product. If they realized they had a problem and found a solution why not go to that or at least include that solution in one of the extra mirrors they ship.

I bought a Teslong rigid a year ago (or so) and it came with 2 spare mirrors. One of them was the red banded one.

What I think would be nice is a set of spacers ( O rings?) that would slip over the rod and keep it centered in the bore. That way once it’s focused it would stay that way as you run it through the bore.

You can't beat teslong's bang for the buck price ... How many of you would be buying a hawkeye ?? I am going to order a set of mirrors for my teslong to givee a better view in large calibers . Glad they gave me the option to purchase the extended set or not ...

Update. I ordered the 52 degree mirror and have received it. Yep, that fixed the big flare in the middle. Like all things there is a tradeoff. The focus is only a band. at each end of the mirror will be out of focus, unlike the 45 degree mirror. But the flare is still there, just a band of curved light at the top of the mirror.

Here are 2 shots with the new mirror. Compare those to the shot in entry #1. It is worth it.

Bottom of throat. Now I can plainly see the start of fire cracking that is not on the top.

Thanks for the update!
I didn't get to try my red banded mirror - it flew into some crack/crevice as I was trying to screw it on.
Your review saves me the cost of reordering it!
