Teslong borescope "hacks"

Corded to my laptop my eyes like bigger screens.
Me too. I have the flexible and rigid both are corded version that plugs into my laptop. My laptop pretty new and has a really good quality screen so the view size and quality is very good.

I have two Teslong's, the first one I bought was the rigid shaft USB. The second is the WiFi flexable shaft. I much prefer the WiFi version. It's much easier to use my tablet or phone as opposed to my laptop or desktop. With a little work to the USB end of the rigid shaft cable I can use it with the WiFi adapter.

Are you saying that you can use the wifi box from the flexible cable unit on the rigid shaft unit?

I’ve had a couple of Lyman’s, they worked kind of, just ok. Focus was fixed and screen and cords were a PITA.

I bought the Teslong with the WiFi hub. It works great, took a little testing for picking the correct lens for setting the focus. After that, select it’s WiFi network in settings and fire up the app, works on my iPhone or iPad. Clear and sharp, stills or video are saved right to your device. For $100 or so, it’s a good buy and will let you know that your barrel was never really clean.

Attached is one of the first photos I did of my Dasher Brux throat at 1350 rounds. I've gotten better with the focus and image size.
no carbon ring A+++++great pic

I've got the one with shaft & a set i of mirrors. OTG app on my phone and it's a great pic. Quick and easy to use.

The plug on the rigid shaft camera I have is a little long to make the connection in the wifi box. I'm going to file a little off and it should work.

I have a low-budget Teslong with the flexible shaft that I use with my Android tablet. I also have a Hawkeye borescope which I bought as a SHOT Show special several years ago. The Hawkeye is really nice but guess which I use almost 100% of the time? The Teslong, because it's easy and "good enough" (not damning with faint praise, I'm actually really impressed for the price.
You can also earn Brownie points from your domestic manager with a Teslong. e.g., I was able to diagnose and subsequently fix at no cost, why my patio doors didn't run well. Brownie points good :-)

I have had the rigid Teslong for year+ , I usually just plug in to my droid phone. I have also plugged into the laptop for a larger view. Really does allow you to see how cleaning is working.

Has anyone used one on a 20 cal? The flex shaft one I have doesn't fit and I am considering purchasing a rigid if I knew for sure it would fit.

I will measure my rigid one later for you if it helps any. I got .1945", but I used my caliper. A bit troublesome to measure it. I should have used my 0-1" micrometer.

Odd,
Thanks for the firsthand info. Here is what technical support told me:

"Thank you for reaching out! Any of our probes will work with the WF150 Wifi adapter with the appropriate adapter cable. Please follow this link below to the adapter cable that would work with your NTG100H!

Q2U Wifi Adapter"

I am not even sure why they pointed me to that link. It seems like it allows you to connect to their monitor.

I asked if the Wi-Fi box would work with my rigid camera before I bought it and was told by their customer support it would. I sent them photos why it wouldn’t, they offered a refund, but I kept it.

Do you feel that the setup with the wifi box is any better? My only reservation with the standard rigid one is that it is a bit problematic to view "around" the bore, rather than just straight up and down the barrel, lets say, with the mirror just pointing up. It would help if there was some kind of "swivel function" on the rod. Barring that, I was thinking that the wifi unit might be a better compromise. You could rotate the whole rod, cable and wifi box while you view the images on your phone, tablet or PC. It would be troublesome to rotate your phone, tablet or their monitor. and totally impossible with your PC.

I like the wifi because I can use it anywhere with my phone or tablet. On my rigid shaft scope I indexed the mirror with the flat on the camera handle, this way I know where I'm looking in the bore. Then I just twist the handle to look where I want. This twists the cable but isn't an issue. IMHO, it's easier to know exactly where I'm looking with the rigid shaft as opposed to the flexible.

The flexible is more versatile, and I'll use it for stuff other than inspecting barrels. I'd buy both again.

I bought the flex Teslong before the wifi one came available, so I bought it too. Both work as they should. The non wifi one I use a my shop with an older desktop. The wifi one gets used with iPhone, iPads, laptops. Surprisingly clear and very revealing.

I may yet get the WiFi version and flexible version.
