Teslong Bore Scope Advice

First, yes I have done a search and I've read so much stuff that I've confused myself. Question is which model to get and from where. Primary use will be the inside of custom rifle barrels, but seeing inside a spark plug hole could be useful too. I've got a couple of windows laptops, an Ipad and an Iphone, but I'm not beyond buying a cheap android tablet. I'm not the sharpest tool in the technology shed. Easier is better.

Your advice is appreciated.

Get the Flex or stiff units. Both are EASY to use. Like you I am not the sharpest tool in the box. You cant go wrong .. For the money. EASY to set up and use. Phone or laptop. Just my two cents. Tommy Mc.

I have Bothe the rigid and flexible Teslong--let a car engine building buddy try both-his answer is that the flexible offers more usefulness.
He used it to assess condition of cylinder bores on engines and said it was OK-far, far easier than pulling heads LOL

I have a wally world android Lenovo 8" tablet and downloaded a couple different apps to find one that will work with the Teslong BS. It works fine but I have to open the app, then plug the BS into the tablet and it works fine. I also have a Acer Chrome 12" (?) laptop, and just plug the BS into the laptop, and open the camera function, click on the 180* symbol and it works fine as well. The tablet is smaller but harder to position for good viewing IMO, but works well. The Acer laptop is a bit more stable on the bench, and easier to position the screen for viewing. I have the flexible version, and got from amazon.

If you wish to use your IPhone or IPad you need to buy the WiFi model. WiFi models are the most usable across a wide range of devices because they can be used with Android, Chrome and Windows as well by simply unplugging the WiFi module from the scope and plugging into the device.

I got the rigged wand. I use a .22 cal bore guide to make it stay centered with the small mirror.
I recently got the mirror pack that's available.
Using a closer bore size mirror in my 30br is a great upgrade. I highly suggest it.

My friend uses the flex cable teslong in pistols and building AR's.
I see how the flex is more compatible for different uses. treat it well, crimping it and Rolling it tight will ruin it.

I'm a BR shooter only so a rigged wand was my choice.

I bought this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B081T1DN1P/?tag=accuratescom-20. It was easy to get going with my Windows 10 laptop and the resolution looked good; came with 3 mirror units. The mirror unit screws on to the borescope tube. Don't know anything about the wifi model but can see where that might have some advantages. I am a former BR shooter, but now shoot mostly 20 and 22 cal varmint rifles so this scope is perfect for those rifles though I don't think I have tried it in a 20 cal. Sorry I am kind of rambling here, just trying to put things down as I think of them. Good luck with your choice, these are quite a bargain.

I've put my Teslong down a spark plug hole. The one drawback is that the focal length is reallllllllly short and field of view is similarly small. You're not going to get a good image of cylinder walls, valves, etc unless you're right on top of them.

There are other similarly inexpensive endo cameras with a focal length long enough to use for automotive work. For example Snap-on sells a self contained hand held endo camera and screen made for that type of work where you really need a good view of something an inch or two away, as opposed to .1 inch away.

I have both length rigids and the flexible model. Lately, I find myself mostly using the 10" rigid pistol scope model. All I really care about is the first couple of inches of the bore. The 10" easily reaches the throat / leade zone that gets cooked the worst. Very convenient to handle the short scope. I bought the stand alone monitor as I have no cellphone. I keep it in my range box, too. Last week I demonstrated it to another shooter at the range on his rifle. He placed an order for one right there at the range.

The 10" is on sale at Amazon right now. My advice? Get them all.;)

That's reel purdy, Alex. Shine was so brilliant it confused my eyes and I thought it was a three dimensional video. Found myself reaching for my 3d goggles.

SSL: what's a red band mirror head?

i got mine off Amazon. I guess its a flex one. it is long enough to reach through any bore i work on. i like that- can see chamber on semi autos.
I use a cheap lenovo laptop with win 10-- all i have to do is plug the usb connector on borescope in and open the camera app up and it starts working. If you only have win 7 they send instructions how to get it to work with that. I think you will like the large size of the picture on the laptop so i would use one of them you have. I keep mine plugged in to a laptop that always stays open, next to my cleaning cradle. its so handy i just turn on lap top and open camera program and im ready to go. I rarely get the hawkeye out anymore. One thing that does happen is as you turn the scope in the bore the cable wraps up and puts resistance on it. Thats no big deal of coarse.

They are the new mirrors that have a more shallow angle. They really reduce the glare. I got one as a test sample and it had a red band around the mirror area for quick identification, I would assume. I was told they would be offering them as options and perhaps as standard issue too, but I don't see any on their website or Amazon yet.

i need to get one of them for sure. Id make sure and get one with any new scope i bought.

Contact Teslong for the 35 degree mirror. It does deflect the light glare away from the camera. This was a clever idea that really works well.
