Tell me...

It ain't so! Picked up a copy of the 2014 issue of Leupold brochure and on front page shows photo of a sniper with a scoped bolt rifle and I do believe it's mounted bass ackwards with high rings at the front toward objective lens!!

I suspect it's camera angle. The scope's vertical adjustment knob is the focal point and the lense is slightly in front of that so the rear ring is slightly further away from the camera lense and depth of field can play some pretty funny tricks on camera lenses.

That is interesting. Optical illusion maybe?
that is my thought, but the rest of it doesn't seem to change perspective that much....could just be my eyes though

Misunderstood the OP's post, upon examination of Lapua 40X post and re-reading I would have to agree (and laugh)!

Maybe it is set up for ECR shooting (Extremely Close Range).

Not only was I looking at the front ring height....but the angle of the scope!

This pic was made using a wide angle lens from pretty close, so lots of distortion/abberation in pic. It can be very deceiving. It's not a good idea to make pics with a wide angle if other options are available. The longer the focal length of the lens, the "flatter" the object appears in the pic and vis versa.

I've seen high scope mounts on some benchrest rigs but I think that's higher than any of those, outstanding work with your marketing dept there Leupold.

I don't see what is so odd ;D He is obviously a special forces guy with a rifle set up for underground tunnel snipers ::) With those angles he is bound to get one, "maybe" 8) :-[.

People ask me why I switched to another brand ::)
