Bullseye target cam work great. where the rang is open and away from the berms. at 600yds. At 1000 yards with tall berms side berms it hasn't done well. Larry

If you are talking about the ammo can version, the wi fi antenna is inside the box. I had Nick add a 20 foot cable to the antenna so I can remove it from the box and elevate it to get better signal over/through terrain/barriers.
That AR500 steel will certainly have a huge impact on your signal.

I have the ammocam long range. Works very well. It does not go thru a steel plate at all fyi.
I bought the Bullseye Long Range ammo cam about 3 months ago....have taken it to the range 4 times now. The first time I had it a little too far away from the target and had a little trouble with focus. Moved in to about 9-10 ft and it's worked great ever since. They also offer a 2-year Downrange Protection Plan that covers any accidental shooting of the cam. Pretty reasonable price.
I have used the Target Vision system for 6 months now and really like it. I don't know how you could design a unit any easier to set up and operate. I've used it out to 600 yds. and it works perfectly. My only hesitation was the price, its not cheap.

My partner and I put one together, all the parts from Amazon. We have about 200 dollars in it, but we had a couple of the parts on hand. And we bought a couple parts that we didn't use.
A 3 watt transmitter/receiver about 80 bucks,
A cheap security camera, $25,
A wheelchair 12v battery, about 15$ I think,
A small inverter to run our TV screen, 25$
A cheap small battery charger, ??
Several cables that were pretty cheap
My friend had a spare 22" flat screen TV and an unused tripod for the camera. I tried to adapt the RCA signal to a DGA signal for a laptop screen but couldn't get it to work. But believe you me, the bigger the better at the shooting end. We've had a good signal out to a mile and a half in flat country. Our cheap security camera won't reliably pick up bullet holes in regulation black targets so we use white poster board to test with. Works fine.
And it cures the age old problem of cranking up a pickup and driving a thousand yards to check a target and always wondering which hole is which shot.

Mine is similar . I used a 7" screen , color hi def used for auto headrest install . Cameras were $20 -$30 , a good one is the 1/3" Sony 420 lpi with power converter
. I used this camera with the 12 v sealed lead battery , 2 batteries one on each end .
The transmitter receiver assembly is 12v also and is good for 1000 Chinese meters , so I checked it . As it turns out 600 yds was all I could go ran out of open space ,picture was still good . The 12v batteries were for a GTO power gate opener , they last and I had the unit transmitting and receiving for 5 days before it needed recharge . It must be line of sight , and the cameras canbe used as is but for a focus adjustable unit youneedtopurchase a $8 adjustable lens and install . It's easy to do , everything is available from Amazon . If someone wants a listi will put one together the next couple of days . Pm me if interested .

I'm interested in this adjustable lens gizmo, don't know anything about them. Are they universal for most security cameras or specific to a certain brand? We would like to use regulation targets now and again but can't see holes the great majority of the time.
I don't know what it costs to crank up a Cummins diesel and drive a thousand yards and back. But our cheap set-up has paid for itself many times over. And to know which hole is which shot is priceless.

Guys I've got 2 old Sony camcorders, 8mm and digital 8mm. They have awesome glass and can zoom to 10x and 18x optic respectively. They have RCA outs so if someone can help I think they would be great base cameras for some extreme range (2000 yd+). That's where I want to go but the output signal, repeater (s) and receiver is were I need the help.

Alot depends on getting the camera to look straight into the target, out of the bullet path of course. Our club target stands place the target about 6 1/2 feet off the ground. I mount the camera atop of a tripod and have placed leg extensions under the tripod to get the entire assembly elevated enough so that the camera looks straight into the black. I wish there was a E-Z way to focus the camera other than moving the camera... and related stuff.... towards or away from the target.
Ive had my system about 2 years now. Its OK. For my use... to see the bullet holes... the system features too many do dads in the software. I really dont need to use the system to note what load Im shooting, what rifle Im using, what range Im at, etc. I can more easily do that in a notebook with a pen. Being that I usually shoot from position and not off a bench having a laptop by me when I shoot is somewhat "unhandy".... just more "stuff" to have around you when your shooting.
If I had to do it over again I probably would have built a system.
