Target camera system

Do anyone recommend a target camera system for 1000+ plus shooting. I had one severals years ago but it would work past 200 yards. Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure there's at least one article on this very forum that discusses such a system. Try the search function. I'm pretty sure the article was favorable, and the product wasn't hideously expensive. 8)

I have a bullseye that works to 1000 yards, and I like it but it does have limitations.

Using a laptop in the sun it can be difficult to see the screen clearly, that's just a fact, not a problem with the unit. (free solution, use a cardboard box to shade your laptop.

In most cases, outside, I cannot pick out holes in black target faces. Part of that is that my home range faces SE so the sun is almost never truly in front of the targets. At best it's high angle from the right.

My solution for shooting F class is to turn the targets over and trace over the rings and numbers with a wide marker. It works great shooting through a scope and I can seen the hits on the white. Still lose one in the rings from time to time. If you are shooting irons and need the aiming black this could be troubling. I think much of the problem for me is the direction of the sun and trying to see the computer screen in the sunlight. I've been able to review targets indoors after shooting and see things (hits in rings) that I couldn't see at the range.

Just so everyone knows, we just released our iOS (iPhone and iPad) applications for the Bullseye Camera System. You can download it from the App Store by searching for "Bullseye Target Manager".

Our Android and Mac OSX versions are on their way as well. So now a laptop isn't the only option :)

Regarding the detecting hits in the black targets - our cameras have night vision (infrared) and we have had great luck putting a piece of electric tape over the little sensor and "forcing" the camera to turn on the PIR lights - then the shots in the black show up glowing. Try that and see if that helps!

That is one slick system. You could hook a projector to the laptop and project a large image that a crowd could see. Or I imagine folks in an audiance could all be watching the target on their smart phones.

Can multiple units be used on the same range......So for example, 10 folks could be shooting and monitoring at the same time.

Each camera must have its own WiFi address?

PTZ Hi-Rez netcam + router + Yagi. WiFi out to any mobile device or (better yet) Kindle Paperwhite. Under $1k.

Our IT guy, JayChris has built such systems and they work, and will change your whole perceptions of the capabilities of a target cam system.

At the Bianchi Cup, we had 8 cameras running on the Barricade Event with two 70" monitors showing all 8 lanes at once. The crowd was able to see the shots as they happened and know exactly how the event played out.

You can use multiple units, and you can watch the same camera with multiple devices, or watch individual cameras.

With the YAGI we have shooters using our system out to over 2500 yards. It's amazing how well the YAGI antennas work!

EDIT: not really worth arguing. If the claim is 2500 yards in a single antenna setup, then that's good.

I have always had trouble with my bullseye not syncing, always searching and attempting to sync past 500 yards with weak signal strength. I purposely bought the 1K model. Any particular model number Yagi ? Or db rating ? Just to clarify, this antenna is attached in place of existing short white antenna and aimed back at laptop ?

If you are having issues @ 500 yards, it sounds as if something may have been damaged with the system - why don't we swap you with a new system (free of charge of course) to resolve this problem. Always call our office 541-357-7035 if you have any sort of problems or concerns with our system, we are here to help and we staff our office with educated people and shooters that are there to help. If you want to E-Mail support@bullseyecamera.com we can get that swapped for you right away - we will send a prepaid shipping label to send the old kit back AFTER you receive the new one, so you won't be without a system.

This makes sense to me. Think of all the gas you'll save driving back and forth or trying to scope at 1,000 yds. So it $549.00, seems like it would pay for itself in about a year or so.

If you value your time at the rate you're paid at your job (for example), then it would pay for itself even quicker!!!

And another thought, although luckily I've not been such a victim: if you leave your gear unattended whilst you are checking targets hundreds of yards downrange, then some schmuck thief could swipe your stuff pretty easily, and make their getaway, before you even return and think WTH?

can say that the Bulls Eye Target team has given me great service. First unit would not connect to computer and they sent a new unit out after I spoke with them. Returned the defective unit and have had great luck with it since then. The customer service it tops in my book.

I've thought about one of these for my 600 and 1000yd setups but seems like you could get a good one or with my luck a bad one... It is good to know CS is there to help.
