Talladega CMP Adds Schedules F-Class Match 11 March 2017

I shot the match today and let me tell you they've come a long way in a short time at the CMP.

Target faces? Check. Electronic targets working? Check. Match run smoothly? Check.

Things that were unusual: 1) a VERY nice metal rifle case for the winner - WOW! 2) medals for top three spots in open, tr, and bench rest - I thought they only did that at states and regionals. 3) a little loose with the rules - a suppressor, a few muzzle devices, a Harris bipod with its legs loaded into a lip on a shooting mat, etc.

It's still early and much of Alabama's still learning what F Class is. We're not shooting registered matches yet - but they're coming!

Great turnout. Around 50 shooters? Would like shorter wait times between sighters and record but now I'm nitpicking.

Hence my question mark after my guess. I knew it was merely a guess.
Your comments were right on Mahalan. I'm a service rifle competitor and was at the opposite end of the range yesterday morning practicing when your match was going on. I came down to watch your group. It was great seeing the different types of rifles and shooter techniques. I believe one of the young ladies shooting was on the U.S. F class team.
I've been coming to the CMP Park since it opened. The staff are just fantastic!! Leon and his brother Don, both of the Sarah's are all Great people. We are very lucky to have the facility in our part of the world. It is two and a half hrs away for me but it's a trip I try to make as often as possible.
There will always be people who make negative comments. I've learned they tend to live their life that way. It is Great having a group like yours and once I get that F class rifle built I hope to shoot with you!

The match was well-run, the officials were accommodating, friendly, and knowledgeable. The facility is simply world class. The scores reflect quality competition shooting in some twitchy conditions. Despite some lightning issues the night before the targets worked well. The only technical issue I saw impacted the National Rifle Team member and she took it in stride and won the F-TR class. Got to spend time with some good friends and I was glad to be part of it.

Some questions for those in attendance, since I didn't make it:

1. The event was billed as "NRA Sanctioned." Was it? I have not found the usual earmarks of NRA Approved or Registered events such as an official match program or a Match Results Bulletin with details like whether NRA Classifications were used.

1A. Did the event organizers gather the info needed to make proper reports to NRA (NRA numbers and classifications)?

1B. Were any other steps in place indicating compliance with NRA rules? I saw a suppressor on the line in a photograph, and there have been other reports of a relaxed attitude regarding compliance with NRA High Power rules?

2. Do the visible target faces provide an accuracy verification of the electronic scoring system? Is any real detailed comparison done between the holes in the target face and the electronic readings from the match, or is the visible target face simply there to provide aiming references comparable with paper targets?

3. Any word on future dates or a central point for available info? Communication about the past few matches is a dicey deal involving the Talladega CMP calendar, the Bama F-Class Facebook Page, and the Bama F-Class Web Site, which does not seem to have been updated in a while. It would be nice to be able to download an official NRA Tournament Program and an official NRA Match Results Bulletin (or Tournament Summary Bulletin) for these events.

4. Is there any indication that the organizers will be able to comply with the NRA rules for a Registered Tournament in the near future?
