Talladega CMP Adds Schedules F-Class Match 11 March 2017

Should be at least 3 of us 1 tried to blackout saying he didn't want to register his rifle on base so just told him he could shoot my back up ftr rifle , no excuses now lol

Just got word that the March 11 F-Class match at Talladega CMP is NRA sanctioned.

For $50 entry fee, I still plan on waiting until they have a few matches under their belts without the electronic target problems (and accompanying bad attitude by CMP staff) demonstrated last year. But I am hoping attendees will let us know how it goes.

I see a lot of lies and badmouthing about Talladega, three out of four matches did not have problems last year been to everyone and the one people complained about last year I was there what I seen was a lot of people getting blown around by the wind. been there many times and have never had the target score me wrong. how about if you don't like the place then shoot somewhere else been to other ranges and have never been to one where the target pulling and marking went the way it was suppose to the whole match for everybody. besides that the overlay on the front of the target won't lie.

In addition to the crash and burn in the October match, there were shooters complaining of targets missing bullets in TWO of the other matches. In one match, the misses were verified by match officials inspecting the backing cardboard and the shooter was allowed an alibis match. Ask Ed Tyler if you are in doubt. In the other match, the shooters' challenges were simply denied on the misses, because they were not using the cardboard backer yet.

Plain facts, not lies or badmouthing. Plain facts. I was there. I saw it happen. I spoke to the shooters. I looked up these shooters scores in other events. They do not miss the whole target.

I was there to at every match your story doesn't add up there was cardboard backers on the targets that day and what it showed was people were getting blown around, besides that plain fact is the overlays on the target will not lie genius. these are some of the finest people I've ever been around that work there why don't you talk to them instead of badmouthing them on here let them know who you are and what your problems are.

There were not overlays at the first matches last year. Had you really been there, you should know that. The lack of overlays was also discussed here at some length. Sure, there may have been people getting blown around in October on the windy day. But the etarget failures that day are not in doubt, as they have been widely acknowledged.

Most of the target failures at the earlier matches were at 300 yards under fairly still conditions. Ask Ed Tyler, he will confirm it.

I've spoken with Ed Tyler. I've spoken with shooters at the match. I've spoken with Sarah Hall.

The electronic scoring system sucks. CMP had ample chances to fix it before the crash and burn in October 2016. (In fact there was a similar failure in October 2015 at a high power match. They said it was all fixed and promised it would not happen again. Then it did.) I'm gonna wait and see before I travel many miles, spend $$$ on a hotel room, and pay a 42% increase in the match fee based on nothing but promises from people who were wrong in the past when they said it is all working now.

If people keep paying $50 to shoot regardless of the electronic failures, it is not going to get fixed. I've spent too much time, gas, and money to smile and pretend it is working. Maybe it will, maybe it won't. I hope it does work well. I'd be happy to resume attendance as soon as they have a year's worth of matches in the books without any failures.

oh I've been to every match and if you really have been there then when you came you knew there were not going to be an overlay on the target at that time, and there were cardboard backers on the targets that day and it did show that people were getting blown around and off target. by the way I know Ed Tyler personally so I don't need to ask him. I think your shooting ability is really the problem you just want to blame it on something else. like I said they have overlays on the front now and it wont lie. you have been talking the same false crap for a while if you don't like the place go somewhere else. the paper on the front of the target don't lie!

Are they changing them out between relays?

talk is cheap show up and shoot

I do plan on attending a match just weekend. Just not Talladega.

There are more cost effective options with reliable scoring all over the south. Some version of high power, F-Class, or FPR is available at Bayou Rifles, Palo Alto, MidSouth Marksmen, RBGC, Oak Ridge, and Charleston. If you want to pay more $$$ and take your chances on another match screwed up due to scoring issues, it's your money and a free country. I'll be attending somewhere else.

Hurlbert AFB in Ft Walton Beach FL is shooting a 600KD using SMT electronic targets on the last Saturday and Sunday of the month. Bill Walter who formally ran the Blakely, Ga matches is in charge.

Wes, do you have a link where I can get more information on this match? It would be a good match disguised as a long weekend beach getaway for us married folk;).

We run SMT's at Atterbury we had some issues the first two weekends but have them fixed. Blaming shooters as missing is a poor excuse, benefit should always go to the shooters. If a shot is missing on our system we look outside the shooter window (we can find shots 25 MOA above the target) if we can't find it that way we will go in through adjacent targets, if we can't find it that way, well we give the shooter another shot, if it registers disregard the miss and move on. I would never dream of blaming the shooters like I've heard they have. Electronic targets will make mistakes. The only times we've "Blamed" shooters is palma matches when they weren't going fast enough or when one shooter was blowing up bullets and we saw it happen.
