Tales from the creedmoor aisle

Most times it way way slower like 200 FPS or more..
I think thats typical and it may be that the ammo manufactures post the data for their test barrel length and at a standard atmosphere? 59* @ sea level

Me thinks MOST everyone will own a Creedmoor, just a matter of time. I remember rejecting cell phones, then reluctantly, when my oldest got her driving license we all got cellphones. I resisted until I was 48, 17 years ago, that was a flip phone. I resisted the smart phone thing till three years ago. Now Google, Verizon, the deep state, china, and some hooker in Russia know more about me and my habits than my proctologist. Everyone is a potential Creedmoor owner ............

Yes it is called follow through. Must guys jump on the trigger and that is a miss. I wanted a light weight rifle as all my rifles are 9-10 lbs or more. But I have lugged a 10.5lb'er hunting many years. So I buy a Kimber Hunter in 280AI 3-18 leupold on it weighs 7lbs scoped. I worked out a load. chrony it figure my chart. I was at a range where they have a steel silhouette of a deer at 980 Yards. so I dialed it and let one go and hit it right in the guts. So I held a little higher and a little more wind and I was still behind the shoulder. But then I shot a few closer gongs, 700,600 ect. I shot about a 6" rock across the hill at 650 Yards and that one hurt me I was in a awkward position and when it went off I tried to see it hit and it hurt. Not bad for a light rifle though but it Kicks hard enough I dont practice with it. But you have to follow through on it like you are a bear. Hey I have clean missed them at 200 Yards with a rifle that would cut bullet holes at 200 Yards. Why, because I shot BR rifle's and Heavy varmint rifle's all summer with light triggers and now I had a two lbs trigger in a lighter rifle and I was yanking it. Once I realized what I was doing. I followed the next shot through and down they went both of them.lol...Two shots but I think I shot 3 times and they were just kind of standing there looking around. lol...
I have the very same rifle with a leupold 4.5-14 but my CDS dials will only go to 750 yards. What loads are you happy with?

I have a friend that was very proud to tell me and then later show me all of his guns, I had just met him at the time so it seemed a little bit odd. He was telling me regularly of his prowess in shooting. How he had never used a scope until a couple years ago and would routinely shoot 1000 to 1200 yards with his 308 and 6.5x47. I had already figured out he was a b.s.'er, by the talk of everything he has done, not just shooting. He also mentioned how his on rifle was set up with such and such scope so that all he had to do was turn it to the number on the knob and that was on for that many hundred yards. I reminded him (we are both pilots) of air density changes from sea level to 8000'. I told him that he knew that IF it worked at sea level, that it would NOT work at 8000'. He just gave me a funny look. He told me that if I ever needed him to shoot coyotes for me, that he would shoot them in the eye at 600 yards.
I have a 450 yard range at my house, I invited him to come shoot probably half dozen times or more in the first 6 months after I met him. He lost his job a few months after that and his housing too. Knowing it was the right thing to do, I offered for him to come stay with me (8 months later he is still here and I doubt he will leave unless I force him out). Now, he had my shooting range within 50 feet of the house. He had many excuses before, like my rifles are zeroed at 1000 yards, I can't shoot that close, or my rifles are zeroed at sea level and here (8000'), they won't be even close. Now his excuse was that he had to rezero everything because he had gotten new scopes (junk). The best one was that shooting that close, 450, was too easy and didn't want to waste his time.
Finally one day I had a target set up at 100 yards, he came out with his out of the box FN model 70 in 308, like a 700 Police. It took him a good dozen shots to zero it at 100 yards. I am no expert shot, but I do ok. So, I was ringing the 450 yard 8" plate with one of my coyote rifles, estimating hold over. He set up to shoot and missed a much larger piece of steel several times.
After the 3rd time shooting with me, he never shot at my range again. But, he did buy a membership at a private range about 40 minutes away in the summer and well over an hour in the winter, he has never invited me to shoot with him.
If he had a Creedmore, it would be perfect.

To be honest, he is a good person. He has helped me out with work on the airplane, and we fly together pretty often or at least we did before he moved in. It was the right thing to do, he is a good person and was in a position of need.

That being said, I sure would like my house back! But its now winter and moving out won't be easy. I do expect that after a winter at 8000' he'll be ready to go, I hope.

I thought it was Creedmore. No, Creedmoir. No, Creedmoore. Or is it Credemor?

I'm pretty sure that it's abbreviated "Creed" because 99% of owners can't correctly spell the full name. And probably would miss the exit below because of it. :)

How ironic that it’s exit “.223”. Hmmmm....

Spencer, you are obviously a man with a big heart and that is a rare asset these days. Does the guy have the means to move out? As he may be a good person, sometimes “good people” do take advantage of the good hearted. Maybe have a sit down conversation with the guy?

I agree it’s easier to teach the ladies than the men. I think it’s because they don’t have any pre-conceived notions. They listen, pay attention more and don’t have the “Mucho Machado” syndrome. I love it when they shoot the socks off their men. Hahaha.......
