Tactical Options Howa M1500 Short Action in 308

Looking for a tac stock option for a Howa SA in 308

Need adj cheekpeice and butt (eithe telescopic or packers)

Prefer a chassis rather than pillars but I have a tight budget so $450 is about it.

Any recomendations would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Steyr

What about the Knox stock? It's offered by Howa, has a good bedding block, I believe there is an adjustable model. In lieu of that, Bell & Carlson has an adjustable stock for the Remington action that could be modified for the flat bottom Howa action. I've seen an ad on this site (Stocky's?) with prices below $400. Bit of work with a Dremel and you are there.

I assume your talking about the Knoxx Axiom Ultralite. It is pillar bedded. Have heard that the front is a bit twisty when on a pod. Recoil reduction - unsure about this.

I looked at the Bell & Carlson A5 Adj stock that they do for the Wetherby but not the Vanguard model which would fit the Howa.

I am not good on DIY so what exactly would be involved ?

I liked the look of the A5 and a good price with a full chassis !!

Make sure the B&C foR the Wby is for a short action. You'd be better advised to call Bell & Carlson and talk with them. I know that they inlet for the Vanguard because you'll find their stocks on Vanguard MOA models.

Yes - I have asked B&C if it is possible to get the A5 inletted for the weatherby - awaiting a reply. I guess I wont be lucky though. The do it for the other Weatherby action but it seems not the Vanguard. We shall see

seems B&C are not that interested in replying to e-mail enquiries !!!

What is required to mod the B&C A5 fully adjustable stock to accept an Howa 1500 Short Action ?

Dremmels are not my friend.

Thanks in advance

The guys at B&C are still buried in work related to orders taken at SHOT back in January. From visiting with them on a fairly regular basis (they're a local company), I'm amazed at how they're able to keep up with everything that's going on.

They do make a nice tactical/varmint stock for the SA 1500 action; it's in their Medalist line, so has the aluminum chassis/bedding block. I've got a Howa SA 1500 in 6XC in one of these stocks - though it doesn't have an adjustable cheekpiece, the comb is plenty high enough for use with the Sightron SIII 6-24x50 I have mounted on a rather tall EGW sloped scope base. Overall butt shape is somewhat similar to a McMillan A2.

Yes I am enclined to agree but unfortunately, I need adj butt and cheekpeice so the medalist, whilst very fine isnt what I need :-(
