tactical 20 reamer help.

Need some help with reamer here, I decided against the 20ppc on the advice of some guys on here as pressure might be abit much for my model21 action and I am going to order a tactical20 reamer. One of the reasons I am going tac 20 is too get rid of the freebore of the .204 ruger, so I want to make sure I dont end up with the same problem in tac20, will I need to spec what bullets I will be using so that the can grind the throat to the proper length? Currently I am using 35g bergers as my number one choice but in the tac20 I could go either way from 32g v-max to 40g v-max and dont want to get caught out not being able to get bullets into the lands. Ill be oredering the reamer from pacific tool and gauge. Also do you think it will be better forming my own brass or just buying the laupa/dakota pre formed brass, I cant get a hold of the laupa tac20 brass at the moment but a dealer is getting some soon, I am just wondering will my reamer dimesnions depend on weather I am forming the brass or buying it pre formed, as I assume the neck thickens a bit on the stuff you form yourself. Also do the redding dies depend on forming yourself or the laupa tac20 brass, I just cant imagine the preformed laupa stuff will be the same as forming down yourself from .223 to tac.20. As always any advice and tips much appreciated,, I also went for a 1-11 barrel so ill be able to shoot the 40's ok.

CRAIGYBOY.i went down the same road your on. save yourself a lot of headaches and ring TODD KINDLER@WOODCHUCK DEN OO-1-3308970614.he will send you all the dies you will need and not much more than you will pay for them over here.he may even get you the reamer as well from DAVE KIFF[PTG].as for brass go with lapua .223 and form your own its very easy and cheaper than buying pre-formed,once fire formed[very accurate you wont waste the ammo]they will shoot like a dream and no neck turning.this calibre is great to shoot you see all your hits thru your scope and very low recoil.
good luck keep us posted

thanks for the reply gary, I got sorted out anyhow, .233 neck thickness and 0.020 of freebore, I got a nice email from someone willing to sell me some of there laupa/dakota tac20 brass so I wont need to worry about forming brass now.

You also need to be specific about your chamber length. If your chamber length is .005 longer than your brass then you effectively have added to the distance to the lands.

I ran into this problem with my rifle. The chamber was cut to a certain length but, I couldn't find brass that was long enough. Make sure of your brass length and then have the chamber length cut to match.

I was thinking about this too, I dont think its should be a problem, I know with my .204 ruger the brass is 0.027 off the end of the chamber, I have emailed dave kiff about teh chamber length.
