Tactical 20 Barrel Question

Tac20 shooters, what number of grooves are you using? Anybody using a Muller barrel?

PAC Nor 3 grooves are the best 20 cal I can find.

Hart is only 5 weeks out, ordered a couple of them for 204 and 20-250. We will see in a couple weeks?

Mine are 3 groove....I believe the Muller is a 4 groove, but it should be fine....some Krieger's are 6 groove. Lilja 3 groove 12 twists work great also.

My TAC20 is a: 26" PacNor Stainless Steel Super Match, #4 contour(fluted), 1:12" twist, three groove. This is hooked onto a Nesika "T" left bolt right port action. Been shooting it since 9/5/2005. Still in the 1/2" to 3/4" grouping at the range. My coyote rifle. Max bullet weight it will handle is 40gr. Carl L.

I don't think the number of lands is as important as the twist rate. My recommendation would be 11 twist for the 40 grain class bullets & short freebore. I have PacNor & Lilja 12 twist that seem to work fine, but the small caliber community in general recommends the 11 twist barrels, so that's where I'll go in the future. Bought an 11 twist Muller barrel from a member here recently, which will end up being a 20-223AI pretty soon. When I scoped the bore on this barrel, it looked as good or better than most barrels I have scoped. I think Dan Muller is putting a lot of TLC in his products. Also, on the Hart, hillbillysniper has used them & says they are excellent on one of his 20VT rifles. Good luck with it, Joe

Hart makes a great 20 caliber tube. I have shot several 20 Vartargs, 20 Tac, 20 BR, and my current 20 PPC all with Hart barrels and they all shot .3 or better groups from bench at 100yds. My 20 PPC shoots in the .1s and .2s at 200yds!! Hart is on the top of the list with 20 caliber Barrels. I also have a Lilja barrel on my current Vartarg it shoots like a house afire! I have a Krieger Barrel goin on my next 20 caliber Varmint Rifle. We will see how it works out. I have used several 20 cal makers and Hart and Lilja u cant go wrong with either one.

Hillbilly, the small group at 200 Yds at the Super Shoot was a .098". You should have gone and taken your rifle.
