tacomhq structured barrels

Greater Life
• Material failure is the result of work that is converted into thermal energy, causing small phase shifts in modulus of elasticity and material atomic, mechanical, vibrational, and thermal properties. Increasing stiffness, reduces flexion and the work acting on the barrel. See INTEL for details.

Wonder how this reduces the "blow torch" effect on the throat area???? Anyone need some Snake Oil with that steel??

TRUST THE SCIENCE!

The website is full of stuff like prisms to add elevation to your scope and even a system of rods to protect your scope. I really would like to meet one or two purchasers just to see who buys this stuff. The descriptions are worse than snake oil.- they are mumbo jumbo.

Who wants a tacom barrel in their new ROKSTOK? Maybe throw a ZCO on it. If it looks ridiculous, it must be the best!

A long long time ago in engineering school I took courses on vibration. I passed but I was never even close to being an expert. When complex vibration problems came up I called in an expert. I took a look at the "how it works" section on this website and to be really honest I didn't understand it except that it is a stiffer barrel.
The one rule I have in life is if I don't understand something I don't invest in it.
I used to run a power plant, when asked to review an ENRON contract, I didn't understand it and recommended not to go with it. We know what happened with ENRON.
I don't understand Crypto Currency and I don't invest in it. I also didn't loose money to Sam Bankman-Freid and his crypto scheme.
Most of the annuity contracts I have read are really complicated (intentionally) so I don't invest in annuities and I have done just fine in my retirement.
What I do know is that if I want a stiffer barrel I go with a shorter fatter barrel and I can do that a lot cheaper than what this website is showing. I guess it's possible that this thing could work but one thing I certainly don't need is anymore expensive rabbit holes to go down.

Your links not working so I'm going strictly by "structured barrels" but I believe @Northridge may have some experience here.
Not sure precisely what is being ask exactly from OP but there is validity to what is claimed by Tacomhq in regards to there Structured barrels… I’ve started tinkering in the 1000 yard benchrest world with a version of there barrels.. now typically these barrels are very large and of Larger bore diameter of which I personally haven’t tested at this point. I approached John at Tacomhq in regards to a “compressed” version for a 6mm bore far smaller than typical.. to accommodate my goals in regard to weight.. John crunched some numbers and said he could make it happen so that’s where our Journey began.. I really did not know what to expect outside of what I had read and other guys findings so I jumped in with a open mind from the start. I could go in to great detail but my fingers would bleed… long story short my first attempt at a “compressed” or smaller diameter version handled differently in regards to “Tuning” tendency’s but similar at the same time.. in regard to wear or erosion it was on par but throat mouth erosion migration was far slower was this barrel steel Or the process, hard to know based off one blank but noted non the less… I’ve had fast erosion and slower erosion from every barrel manufacture out there, there is a lot going on in a topic as this..
In regard to a typical “tune” tendency or how ladders form or migrate within adjacent quadrants at 1000 yards the structured barrel did migrate as I had hoped but where it was “different” was how it would. “Dwell” or pause before migrating again.. the “gaps” where also different meaning how far between favorable tune windows was closer together with powder and seating ladders. General recoil “pulse” was also different I would agree as others have claimed, hard to explain in text but rearward “drive” is clean and crosshairs far less violent in a “cycle1” under recoil… now I will reiterate this is a far smaller version I requested and not tacomhq’s typical version so my findings may be different than the larger versions… also as stated by others they claimed to document very “dead” tuning windows and at short range like 400 yard in I would agree it showed this tendency but still had premium tuning with in a slightly broader window.. now my personal opinion before I ever attempted this was if it is completely “dead” it would not be tunable as there would be zero or much reduced frequency to capitalize on tuning windows, but what I was hoping for was a platform that would be a tad more “Lazy” when coming in to tune out of tune.. I also must mention the platform I used for this test has had many barrels and a lot of testing or ladders to know it’s typical tendencies on paper before this re-barrel. My findings at Distance 1000 yard testing or ladders where slightly different than others in regard to how “dead” it was, it did resist vertical climb for sure but this soft stock and platform already
Developed this tendency but did still travel or change quadrants when really pushed. But as stated before general mannerisms with in the quadrant before moving was more Lazy than many I have had… in general what I hope for was sound enough for me to order another blank to do it all over again. The first barrel really was to learn so I bounced around a lot to gather or document how if at all it would be different. The second attempt will be a with agging or grinding in mind. I will find a zone it is “happy” and I will grind on that through out my season.. I am apart of a very stiff line at Deep Creek Missoula Montana at 1000 yards but this blank actually gave me more Day agg Wins or top 5 positions for light gun group than any other barrel blank I have had to date… that’s saying something

Enough I will continue or make another attempt

Mark & Sam after work youtube has a couple barrels and prisms he shoots

I really enjoy watching Sam and Mark after work. I was shocked to see the government with the new laws on big bores and what it did to them. I would be surprised if anyone has been a victim to a long range shot in Australia.

Longrange 57 how is yours working out? I would be interested in some firsthand info, I've looked a match results and never seen one mentioned.

Ebb, you are probably referring to rifle I posted on another thread. That rifle is Libert's and is a 375 cartridge of his own. He competes in ELR and 2 mile stuff. I've shot the gun in a couple of configurations. Its a dandy shooter regardless of barrel.
In reference to the Tacom setup, Libert is in love with it. You would think a 42 inch barrel would flop around everywhere.....and maybe it does, however it shoots fantastic. It was a crazy deal....at Caprock range recently, I was shooting my Dasher at 1,000 and everytime I hit on steel, He used my my hit as aim point and hit about an inch high. We did this 5 times and I was freaking out. My Dasher shoots darn good with Gungnir bullets from Bart and has shot many 1/4 moa groups at 1,000, ( mostly 3-5 inch depending on wind), maybe could do better with another driver!
Back to Tacom, Libert is shooting 350 smk and 390 atips currently! Also has shot cutting edge and takes a bit more tuning. From what I've seen and those I've talked with, they definitely work and do a lot of what is advertised. I'm currently looking at a Tacom for smaller cartridge and 1,000 yards....not competition but a play gun. Done lots of research in my time. I have 4 cartridges chambered on Brux and Kreiger barrels, 1.25 straight, and I can put any one of them in my barrel block gun and they shoot slightly better than the identical non-barrel block stock. With heavy barrels, I'm just as much a believer in a barrel block as some are with tuners. Not knocking tuners, because I know they work. Tacom interest me because they are a bit stiffer, and who knows about harmonics, frequency, pressure waves, etc. If it doesn't work for me, no big deal. Others are making it work and not necessarily talking about it. Like post above....don't knock it until you try it with all the vigor you do on other stuff! There is no free lunch! Lots of good shooters on these technical threads doing very well with whatever their setup is. I think thats great....how much better can we do?? The long range deal, 1,000 and beyond is where so many things come into play (not counting conditions), and the older I get, I'm amazed at groups that are shot (Alex, Shaun, and others). Its all due to hard work and trying to figure out all the crazy stuff!
Hope this helps! You can pm and I'll keep you posted....with no guarantees! LOL

So, once you have drilled eight holes the length of the blank, you just have to counterbore the muzzle a bit, and drill holes to vent into each of the eight integral tubes. Then, by venting out halfway back and plugging the breech, you have a built in suppressor. Might want to add a deflector shield to it.
Another great idea would be to half fill each passage with a glycol mix. A miniature steam whistle at the muzzle end would warn when the barrel was getting too hot! WH

Yes this helps!!! The website promised so much I had serious doubts. People actually having hands on experience tells me way more than a sales pitch. And I must admit it sounded like snake oil. Good luck and keep us posted!
