Tackdriver VI rifles

They may have a hard time finding an entry by the way Jim said that next year is filling up.
It’s probably going to take a dedicated 6PPC or 30BR Shooter to decide to build a rifle around another cartridge.
I spent a lot of time this past year working with a 6BRA 1-12 combination shooting 80 grain bullets. While it shot pretty good, I could not get it to shoot at the same level as my 6PPC on a consistent basis.

Everybody needs to take a good look at their targets and see just what went right and what went wrong. On my group targets, I was two bullets from being in the top 5 in Group. One was a four in about a .500 killed with one hanging out to make a 1.200. The other was a nice .450 with one landing out to make it a .1.008.
That is just me missing the condition. The Rifle was plenty capable.
I am sure there are many Shooters who could say exactly the same thing.

In the Score portion, I have at least 5 nines that were within .020 of cutting the ten ring. One of my Score targets where I missed two shots would have made about a .700 group if the targets were laid on each other.
On my 50 3X target, I saw a favorable condition and circled that target in about 30 seconds. My Rifle was plenty capable, it needed me to do my part.
So what I need to do is shoot better for all 50 record shots. The brutal truth is at my age, I am running out of time :) Hopefully I have a couple more in me to finally live up to the capability of the Combination sitting in the Bags.

NF comp thats not broken yet?
Mirage wasn’t as bad this year and we could have a spotting scope on the bench. With that said last year was horrible and I saw several new March Majesta’s, a 10x60 Schmit & Bender that Mike Elliott had that was impressive, and several March 10x60 34mm tube with “Super ED” glass. Eric Cortina had a New prototype Kahles that Speedy spoke highly of. Orangeburg is the best salesman of premium scopes in the country.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the 80gr bullets in the 12 twist.
I got word today that I was lucky enough to get a spot in next years Tac Driver. I am beyond excited.
Over the last few days I've been thinking about what I might do or build had I got lucky enough to secure a spot for next years shoot. That 12 twist 80gr idea has been at the forefront.
A few years ago I had a ppc reamer made with 40 degree shoulders. I had this made for the 80gr or similar bullets. I don't know if this was a good idea or a complete waste of time and money? I haven't ever chambered a barrel with it, so I guess I cant be sure. Im almost certain this has already been tried, I certainly don't hear anyone talking about it. I don't have a FL size die made for it, so I doubt I go that direction, but its a possibility. The standard ppc has always been my favorite chamber, and it sounds like a solid choice.
thanks everyone for sharing

I have had a lot of discussion over the ideal cartridge for this match. Its not any easy one. Its far enough and conditions are hard enough that I dont think this is just a ppc match. It does well because it is accurate but because the majority are shooting one and they know how to read the flags. I do think a well tuned BR, BRA, Dasher, are all top choices. There will be a 25x47 there next year, thats also a very good choice. The 30 BR or bigger are also good choices. We will be experimenting with a few wild cats to see if we can find something. You will see more long range guys next year. As more show up and talk to their buddies about the experience you will see more and more long range guys for sure.
May have to make this a 4 day event!! Man, we could drive @jcline crazier with that! LOL

Jacky, after leaving the sighter, do you go right to bull number five and then up to four and then across to three and then down to two and then one???... if so, that might be why the shot on bull number three went low. I always think the gun rides in the bag a little different after you swing sideways.... I'm just curious thank you for your response Roger...and OBTW...great shooting!!!!!

I hit the left sighter in a hanging straight away condition, and probably finished that target in about 30 seconds. I went 1 through 5 as fast as I could cycle the bolt and move the rifle.
Just between you and me, I got lucky.

But it sure felt good.

Jackie,
I don't about lucky, but you sure sent them down quick.I still had 3 targets to go when you finished and I thought I was running em

Did anyone try a straight 6BR? I had Mike Ezell @gunsandgunsmithing chamber one for me a couple of years ago that shot phenomenal at 500 yards (for me).

There are 8 or 9 6BR's listed.
