TAC-22 Ammo Review

Ok so I tested this ammo out with 2 of my more accurate 22s.
Hopefully this will give you some idea as to what your rifle may do with this ammo.
Heads up it was about 5/8 in 5 shot groups if you do not want to see the video.
I'm not trying to get extra clicks, just hoping to help.
Take care

Just to add to this, I chronoed 50 rounds over a year ago on my MagnetoSpeed v3 and the numbers were decent with good results on paper too. For th 50 rounds that I had the average MV out of my 18" Shaw match barrel was 1080 fps; ES- 66 and SD- 12.5.

I've got data from other shooters with very similar results.

Tac 22 shoots pretty well out of my CZ. It does produce a few flyers but overall its much better than your average bulk 22 ammo. And way cheaper than the match grade stuff. Every box I've tried has been really greasy though. I swear I could heat my home during the winter with all the oil they put on it. I normally dump it out on paper towels and give it a good massaging before I go shoot. Thanks for the video and review.

Yes, that's my conclusion as well.
The flyer brings the group to 5/8, for me but that's still good performance overall.

Norma USA Tac-22 and Match 22 are the same as RWS Target rifle (Tac-22) and RWS Rifle Match (Match 22). They all come out of the same factory (both Norma and RWS), and same loading machines. I would compare them to to SK Standard and SK Rifle Match. All are loaded in Germany (SK and RWS).
All use petroleum distillate lube on the bullet.

For those that remove bullet lube, you're not doing yourself any favors. It's there for a reason and removing it can effect accuracy and pose possible lead accumulation in the bore.

SK Standard shoots better than the TAC-22 in most of my rifles.
Still, the TAC-22 surprised me how consistent it was.

If you were to test say, 20 lots of both, you may find they come out equal. IME here on this forum, very few really do the work it takes to find a really good lot of ammo for any given rifle they own. Last year at this time, pre-pandemic, I tested over a hundred lots of ammo for mine and my friends competition rifles. In August, another 25-30 lots in just 2 of my rifles.

Actually, I've probably tested about 2000rds of SK so far.
All SK has performed excellent for me across the board.
It's actually taken the place of Fed GM Ultra Match for me.

But you are correct that different lots do sometimes shoot differently.
Still, I haven't seen a bad lot of SK as of yet...

Tested 2,000rds of SK so far? How many different lots? Did you record data on those lots? I am correct that "SOMETIMES" different lots do shoot differently? You haven't seen a bad lot of SK as of yet? Hum?

Your comments solidify my comment that very few who post on this board really put in the work, or more importantly understand, what it really takes to truly test ammo for the very best performance in their rifle. For those few who post here that do understand, and I know several of them, my comments hold considerably more weight than what your reply to my post does. It all depends on the equipment you're using and what you are doing with it to validate what is expected of performance and how you test to deliver the needed results.

I am fairly certain your 'fun' in what you are doing is very different that what my 'fun' is in RF shooting. There's nothing wrong with that. We're both having having 'fun', just a different type of fun, and that takes a very different approach to how one tests.

Why do you seem to question what I say in every reply?...

Simply put, I have shot groups with Sk Std, SK Rifle Match and Sk Long Range at various distances, testing groups size and reliability in several rifles over the years.

In the same way I have also chronograph the muzzle velocity at different temperatures as well as different lots.
If there is something I'm missing please elaborate.
I understand most of us shoot 5x6 groups, and I did that with the Norma TAC-22 as well.

With the current ammo shortage, I am not shooting 100x5 shot groups on video, that's absurd.
The ammunition either shoots well or it doesn't...

I found the results very consistent in that lot, this is undeniable my friend.

To be frank sir, you do not know who I am or how many years I've been doing this.
You do not know how much time I've spent on my bench and the gun range, pushing my abilities.

I am always learning though...

I'm trying to help others learn as well as myself, and to clarify, yes this has been my passion for many years.

Because I believe he thinks he may be the top .22rf tester and nobody else would go as far or as deep in testing as he does. He's wrong if he does think this way, and I'm wrong if he doesn't.

Yes it would seem he has arrived...
This can give shooters a bad name.
We need to help one another not criticize them when we have no knowledge of who we are critiquing.

I tried the new red box regular TAC-22 and it shot quite a bit worse than the black box stuff. Might just be the lot is not as good as it looks the same. TAC-22 and RWS Rifle Match do not look alike and do not shoot alike in my Anschutz or CZ. The RWS Rifle Match is much less oily and has fewer flyers in my rifles. There is no point arguing about .22 ammo as it varies from lot to lot and rifle to rifle. One thing for sure, at 8 cents a round, the TAC-22 is a bargain compared to CCI SV and similar ammo. There is just no guarantee it will shoot well in any particular rimfire gun.

Does the CCI SV have less accuracy now than the tac-22?
