Table Top Press Mount HELP

Hello Gang - This is my first posting and I appreciate the help in advance. I'm looking to mount a Redding Boss Press on top of my table instead of on the table's edge. I'm having a difficult time finding a mounting stand that would allow me to do this, however, have seen steel mounts in the past. Does anyone use this set-up, and if so, could you point me in the direction of where I can purchase a stand, or even make one of my own? Pictures and advice appreciated.

Check if the Dillon will work for you.

You are going to have to get a scrap of steel plate to hook both halves of the strong mount together in order to drill the right bolt pattern,it should work great and after you do it post what you did to make it fit.Their are others on here who would be appreciative of the knowledge including me. Thanks ahead of time.

you might want to make sure you have enough clearance for the bottom of the press(between the stand and the top of the table)...also make sure that your press handle will clear at the bottom of the stroke? ??? Just food for thought...maybe you already checked the specs.

You're right Jason. I measured the clearance distance from the base of the press to the table which was aprox 7in. I then "copied" the Dillon and made a cardboard template so my buddy could build from steel. Just before giving it to him, we checked clearence one last time and then did realize the press lever wasn't clearing. We added a few more inches of height and should be ok. Hoping to have it done in the next couple of days, then sand, prime & paint before mounting. I also have 2 steel mounting plates that we'll use under the table to "sandwich" the actual mounting surface. Hope it turns out ok. Thanks again for the replies!!!

Interesting thread, I'm going down the same path myself with the Dillon Strong Mounts. My 5/16" steel plates should be delivered this week. The base will be 14"x10" and the press plate will be 6"x6". I will be mounting a Lee Classic Turret press over the main platform area and a Redding Powder measure off the back end. I want something portable I can haul to the range for load development. The nice thing about the Lee press is I can lift the turret out of the portable unit and install it in the bench mount press without changing die settings. I also plan to put Akro Bin mounts on the sides for holding stuff.

Please post a pic when you get finished.

Guys you gotta post pics if you can, this sounds like great thinking with all the help of all the respondants. This is the reason I love this site so much.Everyone is so great with all the help they offer including our forum boss who chimes in with good advice for all.Lets keep this thread going because you never know what great ideas will surface.

Hey MJRCPD,
Who in the world told you about this site?!!! ;)

You work fast buddy. i just got done asking a friend near you to make me two steel set-ups, one for me and one for you! Guess now I will have two fer me! When done I will post photo.

Hey Mr SNERT !!!!

You've given me the ball so I'm doing what I do best, I'm running with it. Got my fab'd press stand last night but we're "tweaking" it a touch. The overall height wasn't quite high enough, so we're raising it again. If it weren't for the long lever, we'd be fine. By raising it, I won't be limited in where I can place it on my soon-to-be reloading bench. Should have it by Fri if all goes well and it's solid as a rock. More later.........

Got my steel yesterday, this is a work in progress so I thought I'd post a pic just to bump the thread. I'll post again when it is finished.

Guys,

I have been watching this thread with interest, and will share my solution, that I put together 5 or so years ago:

a 5/8" piece of plywood is more than sufficient to tie the Dillon mounts together...see the pics.

WAY TO GO EVERYONE THAT USED THE DILLON STRONG MOUNT!!! I did that about 10 years ago when a friend got the Dillon with the mount. I immediately ordered three adapted them to RCBS and Redding presses. Easy to do and puts everything at eye level.

I added the powder measure mount. I still have to add a rubber pad on the bottom and a bracket for Akro Bins. The 5/16 steel plate is sufficiently heavy and stable that I can FL size cases and not tip it.
