T Nut ?

I am going to install a forearm pic rail to a laminated stock, and have read the older post here on how to drill the extra hole to do so. My question is on the three little tabs on the bottom of the t-nut, they seem a little too long to pull down in stock enough for the nut to bottom out in the drilled hole. Do you alter these tabs or put bedding under the nut or something? Thanks for any advice!

I use the type without the spikes on them. I just epoxy the tnut in place. You could simply trim down the spikes if they are too long
Thank You!
I was hoping that might be the case. These came with a McMillan pic rail and I don’t see how they would ever pull down in the hard wood enough to bottom it out.

On my manners stock it looks like they just flattened them out
