Switching barrel to action

Question. Amature one as well.

I’m getting a new action from kauger for my 30br. same action as the one I have now. If I switch the barrel, would I need to check headspace, or is everything good to go?

Thanks fellas.

For safety reasons, always check headspace. The switch probably will work fine, but it will not hurt to check headspace regardless.

Another thought, Probably another variable that im either over thinking or wont know until I install it. Wondering if the barrel will index the same?

If you are referring to the stamped info usually on the breech end and slightly above the edge of the stock....probably not. A little over or under rotated should not be a concern if the HS is the same. Bore curvature may be an issue and slightly affect POI, but that is what scope turrets are for.

You could ask at Kauger . The manufacturers procedures and tolerances will influence the interchangeably. I’m fairly certain it would not be issue

@bugman good call. I’m taking it out to 200 yards max also. So not much turret play to begin with.

@paperpuncher will do. I just had a smith damage my action while making me a stock. Haven’t even shot it yet. I just want to make sure everything would be good. I’ll give them a shout and ask.
