switching bolt heads

Ive got a bighorn Origin and a Kauger brii (coned boltface), that I originally had .308 bolt faces on. Switched them over to magnums, and now one barrel is burned out and the other a 300 wsm is too lite and has too much recoil for me. So I want to reinstall the 6br barrels I had on them originally.

Here's the problem. I moved about 6 months ago, to a different state, and I cant find those damn bolt heads anywhere. Anyone ever have a problem switching bolt heads? Ill defiantly check headspace, but im just curious. From my reading, not to many people switch bolt heads for the same barrel, because they usually dont lose them! i found a couple threads about people doing it with a savage but never heard of an outcome.

I’ve never measured a BigHorn or Zermatt that varied more than .001, they are very consistent actions. I bet you’ll be fine. Most will tell you to check head space (which is ideal) but if you don’t have a gauge, I’d be comfortable firing one in theirs and measuring.

I can’t speak to the Kauger.
