Switch Barrel Setup

Question - I have a Remington short action 6PPC and wondering what it would take to install a barrel chambered for 6BR or Dasher? Simply another bolt and chamber/fit a new barrel?

Is your bolt a factory R.E.M. Bolt?
Some bolts can be made to work on both 6ppc & 6br cases.
If that is the case , just a barrel in the caliber of your choosing, head spaced to you action.

Yes. New bolt for correct case head, and new barrel for your action.

If you have a lathe... you can turn down The rim of the br case to the ppc size and use the same bolt. That requires more case prep obviously though.

I have Panda action for my 6PPS. At one time I was considering a 30BR for that action and having the bolt face opened or have the 30Br brass rims turned down to fit the 6PPC bolt face. I was told the it is better to open the bolt face and that the cases would seat and eject in both calibers.

I later decided against the 30BR so I have no real knowledge but I do know that those who have the bolt face usually send them back to Kelby's to have the bolt face opened. If that is the case, then it must work pretty darn good.

I ordered an action from Jim Borden with a 223 bolt. Decided I also wanted a ppc bolt. When it arrived the ppc bolt fit a 308. Asked Jim and he said he had been doing them that way for years.
