Switch Barrel ??? Huh?

The last line in my post said br shooters change barrels like underwear my post was steered toward the people that buy like a switch barrel hunting rifle. Nobody hardly ever swaps calibers, contours, stocks all that jazz when they get one built. Ive built em with 3 stocks, 3 barrels and 2 bolts all fitted with barrel vise and action wrench plus training on swapping it all. Talk to em a year later only to find out how big a waste of money it was because it stays in one form the whole time.
kinda' like that ultra-light hunting rifle in a large caliber they needed, but never shoot, because it kicks the snot out of 'um

I have a Defiance switch-barrel setup in 338RUM and 7 Rem mag. I have a few hundred rounds on each barrel and both give great accuracy and LR performance. Its not a big deal to switch barrels and sure beats the price of having TWO full custom rifles built.

My main prairie dog gun is a Stiller P1000 action in a heavy benchrest stock. The P1000 doesn't require a recoil lug. I have three barrels (22BR, 22-250AI and 22-6mmAI) and three scopes (QR bases) that go with it. Although I put flats on the end of the barrel I tighten them hand tight. I shoot 30-40 rounds (less for the 22-6mmAI), clean the barrel and the replace with another barrel/scope pair to let things cool down. I built a similar setup with the first two cartridges for a customer who saw mine and he does the same thing when out shooting prairie dogs. It's nice to have less stuff to haul around.
