Had a new hunter using a Remington 700 in 30-06 kill his first nice deer in PA. He was using swift Scirocco® II 165 gr ammo. It’s was all we could find for him. Upon him shooting the deer at about 80-90 yards the deer folded right up. He called me and was very anxious. I told him to sit for at least 30 minutes to calm down. I would head that way which was better than a mile away. He did this and when he climbed down out of his ladder stand the buck took off. It was snowing really hard with about 3-4 inches on the ground. He called and I told him I would be there in a few minutes. Upon my arrival, he showed me where he shot the buck and where it fell. There were only a few drops of blood. The buck walked straight away in the woods. We found the deer about 100 yards away from where it was shot. Hardly any blood again just a few drops along the way. Looking at the deer , could not tell where it was shot? When he caped the deer out. He found the bullet on the entrance side of the deer. The bullet never penetrated into the chest cavity. Just a mushroomed perfectly on the rib cage. Inside the chest cavity was full of blood around heart and the lungs I don’t have any idea how this was possible. Any ideas?
