SWFA Fixed 20 Power

Any one use these, looking to get a fixed power scope and was wondering about these scopes, looking at the 20 power any one with experience? Thanks

I bought one for my .300 WM. I use a 12x on my .223 PRS trainer. Excellent scopes, great value. I have the 5-20 HD and another 12x. I usually purchase them during Black Friday, they sell them in a package deal.

I have 2. One on a Rem .308 & one on a Savage 6.5 CM. Both have been to 1800 yards with ease. Good bang for the buck!

I have several SWFA SS scopes, the 10 and 12 power ones are great, very clear and track true. The 20 power tracks true but the extra magnification shows the limitations of the glass they use in them. It's still a very usable scope, just don't expect the clarity of a Night Force for $300.

I will say the 20x is a great scope. I have a few+ of them. One lived on a coyote gun where I was taking shots under a 100 yards.

This will double as a hunting and load development scope as I need more magnification at 100 yards to see with these old eyes. I understand for the money your not getting the greatest glass but from what i can tell these are probably one of if not the toughest scopes built and they will focus down to 10 yards. One of my concerns is the magnification at closer ranges:confused:

I picked up a 20x mil-dot once to use for range work and was underwhelmed with the glass quality. Sold it and later picked a mil-quad reticle thinking since it was a newer reticle the glass may be better. No difference.

Fortunately there was no problem selling them for what I had into them and gave them one more chance with the 12x. Optical quality is much better and have been very happy with it. For a basic rugged scope they're pretty tough to beat for the $250ish used price. FWIW, I do my load work ups at 300 yards and much prefer the clarity of the 12x over the higher magnification.

Tough eyebox on the 20x.. if I buy another one it will be a 10-12x.. Good scope though with tons of elevation adjustment...

Have been using these scopes for years and have never had any reason to regret buying them. I would concur that the 20x are not nearly as useful as the 10 and 12.

Have 20X on 308 AR. Shoot out to 1000yds. As other posters have mentioned, the eye relief is tricky, the paralax/focus is where a zoom ring would normally be, I think it only comes with mil dot reticle but elevation and windage are MOA at least on mine. I dont do mils so it works perfect for me. For $300 it's tough to beat.

Take a look at the SWFA 3-15 x42 MOA reticle, I switched from 10x fixed to variable IIRC it was $399 on the bargain page, never been mounted either.
