Surgeon 591 6.5 saum ejection problems

KINDA-NEW-GUY

Proud Armenian from TEXAS
Planning on calling surgeon and asking them if there is a fix, but decided I should ask here, and make sure it isn't me doing something stupid first.
Surgeon 591 SA, M16 extractor, chambered in 6.5 SAUM. It will not eject brass. I took a slow motion video, and it's definitely hitting the picatinny rail and bouncing back into the action. I've tried it slow, and fast, and even "massaged" the plunger spring. I can't figure out what the problem is or may be. Anyone have any input, or suggestions before I call them and sound like a total idiot?
Thanks in advance

Venturing a guess here but the ejection angle is probably a little to high. I have seen a few extractors with the top corner ground down a little to help release the case a little sooner and at a slightly lower angle. Sorry but I don't have a pic. Hopefully someone will post a pic.:);)

^^^ exactly right. the extractor cant go in the correct spot due to the lug, so you kinda have to angle it to hold it at a lower angle. even a pic wouldnt show the difference you just gotta study how it holds it and how you can lower that angle.

So, from what my pea sized brain understands; I need to file down the bottom of the "claw" that grabs the front of the case rim?
White paint showing the 12 o'clock of the extractor, yellow showing the "leave it alone" area, and green showing where the work needs to be done.... Am I even close?

I'd call Surgeon. I had one of their first 591 R actions in 308. I picked up a WSM bolt from this website and it didn't fit. Surgeon requested both bolts and the action sent back. I had everything back in a week correctly fixed. I can send you a pic of my bolt if that helps? Scott

I believe the one's I have seen modified had the top corner ground down a little at a 45 degree angle. Which, in theory, should lower the ejection angle. Wish I had a pic for you.:(
