Super short mags ....... A waste of time?

i have a 223wssm that is burned out just hanging out under the bed. one thing I was thinking about was putting a new barrel on to shoot the sierra 90gr 223's I was thinking that should give it something to push that has the bc to do well at long ranges. what do you think?

I built a 25wssm on a mauser action with a sammi reamer and wasn't to happy with the fit of the sized cartridges in the chamber but it shot 1/2" groups at 100 with 85gr bal.tips. I'm going to send the reamer to ptg and have it re-ground to better fit the size die and have a live pilot put on it. also going to reduce the neck size to thin the brass size to about .014" I believe this will solve some of the brass problems i.e.,too much sizeing). the case capacity is close to the 257-rbts so I doubt it will be all that hard on barrels. with the right set up I think the 243 version would work fine if you don't push it hard or shoot too fast. have a good day,treeman
