Stupid behavior -- High Angle Firing Video

Infrequent Shooter

Gold $$ Contributor
I just watched a video of some young guys and one girl shooting NY Eve. Crazy rapid fire. the worst part was the firing angle was about 45 degree angle. WTH? Gosh, very scary. Falling bullets from vertical can kill absolutely. these guys are firing to get the most range and probably the most dangerous angle to fire. Heaven help us. Those guys should each get about 2 years in jail to get their attention.

I thought Mythbusters did a test years ago and proved “falling bullets” didn’t have enough velocity to be deadly. I don’t condone the behavior but facts are facts.
I’ll be backing off the internet . Too many false stories, sensationalism and yellow journalism. Maybe AI is involved? It’s getting on my nerves when people tell me cow farts are causing global warmiIng.

A friend of mine was re-roofing his urban home and during the tear off, he found a 30 caliber and a 9mm embedded in the shingles. (Yes, he was knowledgeable enough to identify them), Obviously not a "scientific" experiment, but certainly concerning.
Also a number of years ago, an Amish man in north central Ohio was killed by a bullet, the origin of which was never determined.

A few years (maybe as many as 10) ago a youngster was killed by a falling "celebratory" projectile in a Richmond VA suburb. If I recall correctly it struck him in the top of his head and I don't think the person responsible for the death was ever apprehended.

I have always wondered when watching the videos of the first Iraq conflict and the second in the “shock and awe” deal, all that cannon fire straight up into the air at our planes that weren’t even there anymore, it was coming down somewhere. And that was not small arms fire. I can’t even imagine.

To play the devils advocate for a minute, not that I condone the activity by any means but we don't know whats at the end of the trajectory curve. I live in a remote area and could do what they did with no worries of injuring anything but trees.

Yeah, I agree, but these young guys appeared to be in an urban setting.

The debate is irrelevant - the issue is that it is just simply wrong to discharge a firearm indiscriminately in the air or anywhere else where there is no backstop.
Just makes me think about all the bullets that people in the middle east send up when they selabrate . A half dozen people blasting in the air with auto AK weapons. Those bullets have to come down somewhere.

Back a few years ago.

A few years back a pregnant woman was hit by a stray bullet in her driveway during deer season in Lehigh County here in PA. Fortunately, she and the baby were not serious hurt.

Shot fired was traced back to orchard where a deer hunter fired at a deer without a backstop.

A lady I go to church with had a bullet go through her car hood, and stopped when it hit the radiator support. A few inches higher she probably wouldn’t be here today. Police said was impossible to locate where it came from.
Several years a man in WV was struck and killed by a stray bullet while he was sitting on his porch. Don’t take much force to penetrate the skull.
