Stupid behavior -- High Angle Firing Video

I thought Mythbusters did a test years ago and proved “falling bullets” didn’t have enough velocity to be deadly. I don’t condone the behavior but facts are facts.
I’ll be backing off the internet . Too many false stories, sensationalism and yellow journalism. Maybe AI is involved? It’s getting on my nerves when people tell me cow farts are causing global warmiIng.

I know for a fact that a 40 SW will penatrate a roof and lodge in a wall at 1 mile. I sure wouldn't have wanted to be standing under it.

An elderly woman in Clyde, Tx tending her garden in 2011 was struck by a high angle bullet (30 cal 150 gr round nose). Bullet entered her hip and she did pass away. What goes up does come down and sometimes with lethal outcomes.

Here in Arizona we have Shannons law. Named after a little girl killed by a falling bullet. Struck her in the head. If you are caught discharging in the air ur in big trouble

I stepped out a midnight - New Years Eve, and the only fireworks I heard was folks (dummies?) shooting various types of firearms - hopefully high angle.

The stat for death by lightening annually in the US is 27, which is probably much higher than the rate for falling bullets. But I'd imagine that the odds for falling bullets rises greatly at certain times, for instance New Years in any large city. jd

Lightning is kinda unavoidable.
Death by falling bullets is avoidable.

I know an ATT lineman that he said is was very common for people to call in New Years night or day reporting their phone didn’t work. Idiots shot them when they shot shotgun in the air at midnight.

Yeah, I am leery of internet stories as well. But I am almost certain a 7.62 generic round is lethal if it comes down on ones head. Not sure if a 22 LR 40 grain bullet would do it.

The science is irrelevant, the only thought process is gun safety! Just don't shoot like that!

its defiantly a problem, I live in a part of town where small arms fire is just about every night, more in the summer and on weekends. sometimes its pretty close. we have investigated in the early morning and found brass in the ally, and holes in the neighbors fence. When the guy at the end of the street moved, at least that one stopped. I'm pretty sure he was just drunk and firing down the ally from his back yard. turned it in to the police for prints, but nothing ever happens. I do a rain dance every 4th of july, hoping to keep them in. I have found 9mm bullets on my roof when cleaning the gutters. I had planned on moving when i retired, but im in the middle of 3 very nice ranges and shoot there to much to give it up.

The debate is irrelevant - the issue is that it is just simply wrong to discharge a firearm indiscriminately in the air or anywhere else where there is no backstop.
