Stuck Muzzle Brake

I have a Vais muzzle brake on a Krieger 6mm barrel that is stuck, stuck, stuck. It used to come off easily and I cleaned it regularly, but one day after shooting prairie dogs in the hot sun it wouldn't come off, and hasn't since. I've tried to get it off when the barrel is hot and even wrapped it in a towel and used channel lock pliers to try to budge it. Any suggestions?

You could give it a soak in ATF and Acetone 50/50 mix and see if that would break it free. But it kind if sounds like your threads are galled.

Just heat it with a small propane torch and it should come right off. Then put antiseize on the threads to stop the corrosion process when not cleaned off the gun.I unscrew mine carefully and soak them in a good bore solvent and brush them out with a rifle brush and dry, lube and install hand tight or tweak it with a dowel pin for a little extra leverage. When heating it dont go crazy with the torch,in another words, not glowing red or anything near that.If you can find a spanner wrench that fits in one of the holes coming out of the side at graingers or someplace like that,it will help alot to remove it.

Two barrel vises and some penetrating oil. One vise on the break and one on the barrel. If that won't get it off the threads are probably galled and it's better off staying where it is.

I let some Kroil soak in for about 20 minutes and it came off with a bit of effort, but its off. The threads are fine so I'll get it cleaned up and put back on with some anti-seize this time. Thanks for the suggestions!

Ive used an allen wrench or a piece of drill rod through the holes in the brake. I also had a gunsmith put one on using left hand threads. I think in the future I will mill a couple of flats in the brake and I can use a wrench on it. Like they said use never seize every time.
