Fitting muzzle brake

This is my first time fitting a muzzle brake, so bear with me here. It’s a generic radial .75” diameter 7mm muzzle brake I’m fitting to an old boat paddle Ruger 7mm rem mag. It’s 1/2-28 socket and intended to just thread barrel 1/2-28 x .620” long to match the SAAMI suppressor drawing for 1/2-28 centerfire rifle. Socket is .750” deep. Is there any rule of thumb for the distance from the end of the crown to the bottom of the socket? Another words would it pay to face some off of the muzzle brake and tighten that 1/8” gap up?

I’ve had buried crowns in brakes.
Only negative I found is buildup seems to grow a bit faster.
That might play out differently in a radial.
