This is a spin off the "trimming" thread below. That topic lead too determining chamber neck length for proper case trim size.
OK, not a problem

The problem is where or how does a feller find brass with necks long enough to fit that usually long chamber neck?

My 7-08 as an example; sammi case max is 2.035,,trim is 2.025,,My actual chamber neck is 2.070!!
I bought new Win brass and of the 50,,the longest 8 are only 2.030 with 9 of them being 2.018!

same trouble with 308 brass, new stuff is way to short to fit the chamber neck,,what to do??

Couple ways. 1) use 7x57, 257 Roberts, 6mmRem brass run thru a Trim die cutting the neck to desired length. 2) barrel setback. 3) leave as is if it isn't affecting your groups ( I don't see where it would )

It wouldn't be a concern to me. Just know you've got .035 to .040 till you need to start thinking about trimming the necks to length. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
