strange gouge inside bore

I sent the company an email with the pictures, they seemed surprised at the mark because a defect like that would likely be caught with a rod and patch or even potentially interfere with their air gauging equipment. But they said to send it back and they’d take a look. I got a phone call from the guy inspecting it about a week ago and he said that they couldn’t for sure determine what caused it, he also said he really didn’t see how anything I would have done could have caused it either, So they would build me a new barrel. I haven’t got the new one yet….
No way could you have done that aside from maybe a carbide burr in a Dremel or something. Pretty sure you didn't do that.

Keep us posted on how it goes.

Cal F, that sounds like good news.

I’ll give a quick update. The company sent me a new barrel, I bore scoped it before I screwed it on and everything looked ok (no big gouges). I’ve got about 100 rounds on the barrel doing some load testing and I think I found a pretty good combo.

The groups are ten shots each, the top group was one of three different combos I tried one day, it was the best so I went out and tried it again and shot the bottom group.

That’s about as good as I could hope for from a budget barrel.

So in conclusion, the company made it right and now I have a good shooting coyote rifle….

Yep that's what matter's. They made it right. Even though the extra down time is aggravating.

Sounds like they did the right thing...as did you for allowing them to respond and not flaming them by name without giving them a chance. Way too much of that here. Nice to see a reasonable buyer who shows class. Hope it continues to shoot well for you.
