I never shot the 45-70 mauser but he was shooting off my bench one day when it went off his hair flew up like he was in a wind storm. I didnt shoot it. Doug
I bought one of those old Siamese Mausers. I did a bunch of research and found that they “could” be loaded very hot. I was younger and thought that was a great idea! I put it away, waiting for the time to do some testing. A few years (6-8) passed before I found that time. The first “hot load” test reminded me that I had gotten older and heavy recoil was more painful than fun. It’s a neat rifle to own but I shoot milder loads in it, these days.I never shot the 45-70 mauser but he was shooting off my bench one day when it went off his hair flew up like he was in a wind storm. I don't but many of my buddies do. They started out with the 450 and some still shoot it but some dropped into the 350 when it showed up and some went into the 400 Legend. Seems the 400 Legend is the ticket based on the ballistics and recoil combined per their opinions.Wanting to buy for deer hunting out to 200 yds does anyone have any experience with 350 legend 400 legend or 450 bush master ?
30 Carbine. Still on topic with a straight wall case, well a bit of taper. That lower drawer has good ventilation.
