Straight 284 Win brass out of 6.5-284 lapua brass

I would think that you should be able to FL size the lapua 6.5-284 brass and end up with 284 win brass. Correct me if I am wrong. Thanks.

I don't know what the "experts" say, but I did.
I bought a 270 and 7mm sizing/de-capping mandrel from LEE as there sizing shape looked best for enlarging the 6.5 to 7.

I polished the mandrel with Flitz and put sizing lube on it, sparingly. I started straight off with the 7mm mandrel (By the way, I used my LEE universal decapping die for the enlargement). Turns out it did such an easy and slick job I didn't mess with the in-between 270 step.
So far I have fired 65 of the 100 cases with very good success in my new long range bench rest heavy gun. I am in the process of re-loading the 65 fired cases and all is going very well. I lost NO cases to this procedure.

The 6.5 Lapua brass is larger at the base than the 284 Winchester, so take that into consideration..
