Stop the Assault Weapons Ban of 2015

The ultimate goal of these “useful idiots’” always has been and always will be to have damned the civilian ownership of firearms into oblivion. They found early on that their only resolve was to skirt and to pick apart the 2nd Amendment one more little “common sense” compromise at a time.

This rendition not only lists specific firearms that would be banned, they’ve also listed those that would be exempt, but nothing on what it’ll mean if yours is not on their list, and there’s no mention of custom builds ...

Looks exactly like the Kalifornia version of their Assault Weapons ban (still in effect). Interesting that the Mini-14 and variants would still be legal.

Nobody has ever used a mini 14 in a shooting. Therefore they know nothing about em. They also think a bullet button makes a gun full auto and once the 30rd mags are used up theyre no good anymore

This is just the first of many things to come I'm afraid. Watch what happens tomorrow or Tuesday. Word is there will be a "gun control executive order" coming out as early as this week. Apparently this has been worked on over the holidays. The white house will be meeting with the AG tomorrow. I hope I'm wrong.

You probably are not wrong. I'm guessing that the new big thing will be all sales will have to go through a dealer.

This might sound bad at first, but the local flea market probably has as many gun sales as the dealers (4 including me) in the town that I live in. IF you don't believe it go visit your local flea market sometime. All sales are off the record with no paperwork and cash money. So if you can't buy a gun legally go to the flea market and get what you want with no problem and no questions asked. If this "loophole" gets closed I have no problem with that!

I'm not opposed to that either BUT I promise you that is not the ultimate goal. 100% registration next then confiscation. Bit I digress I do believe everyone should pass a background check to get a gun, and I would support that legislation if I believed that would be the end of it. Next move NRA

Every time you pass a check you are on the list. The government is working on the list of who has firearms. This every transfer will give them far more power than most here think.

Murders might be filmed with eyewitnesses also present during the felonious act yet the alleged murder is still innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Why should the COTUS and the Bill of Rights apply any differently for a firearms buyer or seller entering into a noncommercial private transaction?

If you have a concealed carry in NC you can purchase a firearm without going through a NICS check. You can buy as many as you want and the "government" doesn't know anything about it. We only have to do a check if you don't have a permit and all paperwork stays at the gunshop. It never goes to the government unless I go out of business. I don't trust the Feds. either but there are a lot of our customers that believe their paperwork goes to the Feds. and their gun is therefore registered. Just not true. If all buyers have to pass a background check or produce a concealed carry permit I guess I can accept that. Will it keep guns out of the hands of criminals, never, but maybe it'll help some.

clowdis and birddog1,

That's just silly. A criminal or prospective criminal that wants a gun will get one. Background checks and any other government regulation only serves to make things more difficult for the law abiding.

Section D at 26 through 30 of Form 4473 contains the firearm’s Manufacturer and/or Importer, the Model, the Serial Number, Type, and Caliber or Gauge of every firearm involved.

After the transaction, FFL guy must make the Form 4473 and any other supporting documents a part of his permanent records which must be retained for at least twenty years.

Whether or not a NICS check was required makes not a bit of difference, a Form 4473 must be completed anyways.

Then if by stroke of the pen, Federal agents swoop down on and demand every FFL guy give up all their records, the ATF will have the information needed to register every firearm involved in every transaction where a Form 4473 was filed going back over the last 20 years.

Don't be so quick to just give up your rights! Universal background checks imposed under the guise of closing the “gun show loop hole” causes all kinds of problems. For instance it makes it illegal to lend someone a gun to shoot at the range. To be legal you need to do an FFL transfer to that person, then another back to you when you are done. In addition to this, do you have a buddy that has a lathe and is good at chambering your barrels for you that doesn’t have an FFL? You won’t be able to legally leave the gun with him without a FFL transfer and then another back to you when he is done. We here in Washington state now have some experience with this since I-594 became law. Bloomberg mostly, but also along with Bill Gates and Paul Allen poured a lot of money into getting this initiative passed and from reports dear leader is about to impose something similar on the rest of the country without going through congress. There are more problems in other areas as well, like gun safety classes where several guns are routinely handled by many students. From what I understand at this point, in the gun safety classes the law is being largely ignored but it is technically illegal so could be enforced. Again, don't be so quick to just give up your rights!

If this ever starts, and the Feds dont shut down the internet, this news will travel fast. You can bet one thing,
there will be lots of record fires. LDS

It sounds to me like a few of you are rather confused about how our government functions.

We're gaining rights, not losing them. Ask the Texans here what happened Friday.

Your rights are in no more danger than they've ever been. The President admits that his hopes for gun legislation have failed, and that the NRA is more of a political opponent than he thought it was eight years ago.

There are very good reasons why he's waited seven years to do what you all fear, and they haven't changed.

I'm not about to give anything up! last night before I went to bed it was still a FREE COUNTRY. This morning MR. TRUMP said it best this is an attack on the Second Amendment. Were is old JRS now we told him what OBAMA was going to do, he didn't believe it. Here you go buddy. I think back ground checks should only go though the NRA. or wonderful Government shouldn't have anything to do with it.

I'm right here, Joe. What you said was " Obama is going to use his executive power to take our guns away". What you told me was going to happen, in fact, is NOT happening. Our guns are NOT being taken away. My reply to you was, Obama can't sign anything into law that conflicts with Supreme Court rulings, and he is smart enough to realize that.

Just another example of Trump and his supporters being at odds with the facts. Ray
