I had the very same thing happen to me relative to a powder shipment. Contacted the vendor and they sent me another package.

I work for the “brown” people you speak of and we don’t require signatures on powder/hazmat. Nothing tells us to get a signature. Maybe it is different in other states but I don’t know or it could be a shipper type thing where different parts of the country the shipper requires signatures. Leaving a big black/yellow Costco tub outside for packages may help with issues that way it’s not visible. We dont have many issues here with theft.

I didn’t even know that the Amazon delivery service was ever established, may be a blessing that it isn’t offered in my area.

I've never signed for powder or primers here in Florida. Ive bought 48 pounds at a time. 30,000 primers in an order, never, ever signed. One of the free states.

Have never had to sign for either here as well.

Live in Minnesota as well and have never signed for anything. Also receive and email notification when UPS and Amazon has made a delivery with a pix of the item delivered and sitting on the front steps.

When we used to reside inside Kommyfornia ,I don't recall having to sign for any Hazmat products ?.

The Only signatures I can honestly recall are Chemical Deliveries and Truck Freight , should have seen the look on one Truck drivers face one afternoon . I had just taken delivery of a dozen drums of various flammable items , including Acetone MEK Styrene Diacetone #3 drums of VE and #2 of Derakane along with #2 Drums of Jeffco Epoxy . So the Dock is pretty full and up comes the freight driver with My pallet of Primers .
He looks around and says ,ah You planning on building a rocket or something , Yeah Something I told him !.

FYI : You sign your life away to qualify for chemical purchases with your suppliers and in triplicate upon delivery for all agencies compliance .

Maybe it is due to my UPS and Fedex knowing me, but I have never signed for powder/hazmat deliveries.

I know both ups and FedEx drivers well and I don't sign either. If they see its a high dollar item they will txt me and see if I want it delivered at my buddies gun store.

A day or to after the scheduled delivery date, a piece of cardboard with the delivery address and picture of my new winch was delivered by FEDX to the NAPA store. A few phone calls to the supplier and 2 more days and I got my winch. Someone should see which FEDX driver has a jeep with a new CSI 10K winch.

THAT could be the difference?? Read shipping instructions when you buy and see what the requirements are. New guy, doesn't know you? You WILL be signing.

I'm very fortunate here as my UPS guy is a good friend and shooting buddy, rain or shine my packages get put in my gun room. Most of the time he tries to time his breaks here just to B.S

The other Company Fed Ex was to make a delivery to Me years ago and it was overdue .
So I called Fed Ex and they stated it had been delivered two days prior ,at 10 PM on My front porch .

Told the nice Lady ,there was simply a small problem with that : I close the compound gates at 6:00 PM as MY Two Sentry's are released and as I found NO Bodies or Packages , I'll assume someone is mistaken .

Two days later they call Me and say they've got MY packages ,as there was a problem with delivery driver .

That mid day a special courier drives up with My packages ,insist I open and verify content to insure ALL was intact .

A month later on the local news I see a Fed Ex driver who was in handcuffs on the TV , seems he was overwhelmed and unable to deliver in excess of #200 packages ,so TOOK them Home .

In reality it was cutting into his drinking time allotment ,he was a drunk and several customers complained smelling alcohol on him at 9:00 AM .

There was a fairly recent similar thing here in AL. The driver (contract employee) dump several hundred packages in a ditch. They were all found and recovered and delivered if undamaged.
A week or so after that another contract FedEX driver was found to have dumped a load of packages about an hour or so south of there.
I found out a few years back these contractors have no stake in the company and just don't care the image of FedEx they leave for their customers. They lie, cheat and have no respect for the contents of your package.

About 10 years ago, I had about 24# of powder show up on my front porch. And it wasn't mine!

Opened it and it was full of magnum pistol powders, something I have none of. My address wasn't even similar to the address it was going (though it was in the same neighborhood). I figure the UPS guy just figured "giant box full of gunpowder, must go to that crazy Catfur guy on xxx."

I did hand deliver it to the right address.

Why did you open it if it wasn't yours?

If they have delivery instructions you can get creative. "Thank God I found the toy my crippled daughter lost." "glad I could find my late wife's favorite widget" or my personal favorite "I have a particular set of skills..."

Signature(adult) required last powder order from midsouth, Minnesota. Seems like different Fed Ex drivers, UPS guy has been around awhile.

I've had UPS delivered items razor bladed open and missing from the package literally handed to me by the driver. I asked what happened and where my product is and he shrugged and told me to file a claim. I asked if it may have fallen out in the truck since the package was opened and he quickly said no it's not in there. F'ed up is what that is....

When I inquire about a package with the UPS delivery gal, she always asks "Is it one of those really heavy packages"? She gets the brunt of my cast pistol bullet orders. Or used to, anyway, as my new supplier uses USPS.

Have had numerous packages lost/delayed by USPS. Conn to Michigan took 6 weeks. But one from the UK took 6 days. Go figure.

Tracked another package as it wandered around Chicago for 4 weeks. Then it drove past past me on the way to Detroit. Then back past me again to the next county west. Finally made it to me.

UPS guy is a shooter so we chat from time to time about guns.

Front porch is long and narrow. Maybe 15 feet door to steps. UPS places packages right next to door. Fed Ex is too fat and lazy to even climb the two steps to the porch.

I think shipping theft is very common right now.

Bought 500 rounds of .45 ACP. Followed all the tracking info on UPS.
Truck came to house and parked in drive, then left. No package left.

Checked on UPS tracking and it showed all the progress through the local hub, out for delivery then "package missing". Good thing I did a screen shot. Sent to store purchased and they refunded me same day.

Went back next day to look at tracking info and all the tracking progress and "missing" information removed. Hmmmmm?

UPS delivered primers yesterday afternoon. The driver set them over the gate on the ground as instructed.
No signature required. I ordered on the 20th and received them on the 25th. We get multiple deliveries from Prime, UPS, Fed Ex every week for over a dozen years. We have never had a package not delivered or come up missing.
