stock weights

I have 2 holes in the back of my stock 1'' od 2.75 deep. If I did my calculations correctly steel weights would weigh .62 lb each. Lead weights would weigh .875lb each. For a total of 1.24 on the steel ones and 1.75 on the lead ones. A difference of + .51 lb. Would this be worth doing to add weight. I have no weigh limit in my class. Any ideas other than this?

Normally i check the balance point directly under the recoil lug or just behind it.
Most of the time i find myself adding a little weight toward the rear of the stock
 
On a laminated stock a while back I filled the holes hidden by the recoil pad with epoxy and regular BBs from Walmart. I don't know how much weight it added but, it was enough in that case to balance the rifle out. Messy, but, it works.
 
Are you running a Chassis or conventional stock?
Here is an example from MDT,i'm sure it can be applied to a Fiberglass stock

The trick for this is to put release agent on Saran Wrap, poke it in the hole (that's what she said) , then pour in your lead shot/epoxy mix. Let it set up, and it pops right out. Remove the Saran Wrap, and it slides in & out of the hole with no slop.

Tractor Supply or "other" purchase two 1" bolts saw to 2.70" length, push in hole and see if it helps.. Or..

Two of my HG used for 600/1000 yard BR are weighted in the butt of the stock.
One with lead poured in a section of 1' OD steel tubing and he other is a tungsten bar 4.25" in length.
One of them (the one with lead) I just added a 2" rudder made of aluminum that added just over a pound as well. That stock tracks better than a NorFolk Southern freight train!

A condom will fit better than saran wrap. Tungsten bird shot as small as you can find.

If you can drill another 2.25" deeper you'll gain 1/3 more weight to your previous calculation.
