I have a wood stock that i bought used.
It is finished and looks good, the issue is that it had a comb modification done after it was finished.
The finish on the comb is less than desirable, thus i want to refinish the stock.
I was told , by the original owner, that it was a oil finish.....true oil or tongue oil, i can`t remember.
I like the color of the stock as is but want a tough finish like an auto clear.
Can i sand , scuff the finish smooth on this stock then spray a good clear over it???
If so, what do the experts recommend???
Thanks,
Phil.

I will be dropping off a rifle to my gunsmith today for re-barreling. I'll ask him to post a photo of the stock that I finished as stated above.
