I have a 6.5X284 on a renington 700 trued action with a HS precision stock and brux barrel. I am getting about one flier in every 5 shot group. I have bedded this rifle to the stock with Brownells steel bed and relieved the front and bottom of the recoil lug. I am wondering if any of you think it is better to bed the stock down a small portion say around one inch onto the barrel or if it is better to keep the bedding behind the recoil lug?
I need to get rid of that flier that is turning a 4 shot group under .5 to a five shot group of 1.1"
BTW the flier is random and comes about anywhere in the group. It isn't the first or the last shot every time.
