Stevens 200 stock and ramp question.

For a Stevens 200 centerfeed 4.4" spacing short action build when I order a new stock custom or otherwise do I need something to replace the factory magazine if I want to make it a single shot? Like a new loading ramp?

Yes, but it doesn't have to be anything difficult,

My long action 110 centerfeed works quite well without any mods to the receiver. I have the mag well filled with lead (for weight) and a curved plastic piece cut to fit sitting on top (concave side up). Rounds are dropped into the action and lay on the plastic. The bolt head slides them right up the ramp an into the chamber slicker than you know what.

In your case, I'd recommend (assuming you aren't trying to add weight) a simple wooden block cut to the dimensions of the mag well. Just sand or cut a wide V in the top to center the rounds as they are dropped in through the ejection port.

By simply blocking the mag well, you can convert it back to a repeater quite quickly and easily.

You can grab a score-high follower for about 10 bucks at alot of places. They work great and look nice. I just have mine on top of the factory spring and follower, but I'll bet a small dab of glue or non-permanent loctite something would hold it up there just fine if you don't have a spring and follwer.

Here's a link to them at midwayusa - the first one that popped up on a google
