Thanks for sharing this Alf. I had no idea Steve was that old, I enjoyed visiting with him at the VHA jamboree many years ago. I also enjoyed his many articles . We are diminished.

Wow! Tim was a great guy. Until lately we stayed in touch.

For the guys that didn't know Tim. He wrote a lot of the articles for Varmint Hunter magazine. His name used by us was "Dogzapper". He was a good and active Catholic.

Yea, he was extremely knowledgeable and a great writer. When he stopped writing for VH, it wasn’t the same. Truly a vanishing breed of men.

I can go back and reread articles he wrote long ago and they are just as interesting as the first time to me. I think he was far and away the best writer that Varmint Hunter magazine had. If I am not mistaken he was quite the promoter of the 6BR cartridge as well.

I really enjoyed Steve's Articles in the VHM. He is the guy that introduced us to the .223 Ackley Impv. Darrel Holland was a friend of his and Chambered is .223 AI for him. Darrel Chambered my first .223 AI using the same reamer (I guess) . Steve was so enthusiastic about anything he wrote. When he left VHM, it was never the same. Great guy. RIP...

I corresponded with him a few times over on 24hr. He was a great writer and an inspiration with lots of great stories. I believe he had the idea for the Varmint reticle that Leupold put on their scopes.
