Steel Prarie Dogs ***with pics***

Lots of people were there early to help. Dino and I tremendously appreciate it. We could and would not do it without you.

The rimfire targets worked as advertised. Farthest target was 120 yards and it was a 2.5 and a 5 inch circle. Close target was 50 yards and it was a .65 and 1.25 inch triangle. The shooter had the option of going for the points by shooting the little targets or half points on the big targets. A little strategy was involved. Kind of a "know your limits match" within a match.

Stewart set a new semi-auto record with his AR-10 chambered in 260. He also had the high score for the day of 370.

Hope to see you all next month.

Below is some pics of the new rimfire targets. Tim and I mainly shot the small targets to get the points while the wind was down.

And my 40X got some new shoes. 1/8 minute clicks are awesome when pushing a 22 way out there.

It was sad to only have two other guys willing to bring out their 22s.

The wind was not bad. Half value had me holding off most shots past 90 yards.

One bad round (it went about 3 inches low and Tim said is sounded strange) cost me a 40x40.

See you next month. Bring shoes.

Again this Saturday and every third Saturday all year long. Still running two matches, one at 9:00 and another at 12:00. Rimfire also being shot at both.

Last months rimfire had one perfect score and another with two misses. Might have to push them out a bit more.

Good times despite some ugly and gusty wind.

Results went out this morning. Let me know if you didnt get them.

Everyone that came out yesterday got beat by a girl. Jackie again showed us she knows how to run an Anschutz. The 40X Mafia was hot on her heels though.

I rolled in a little before 8:00 with Dino for set-up. Within minutes there was 7 people lifting heavy things and making it happen. I cant thank you all enough.

The new format for smallbore worked out pretty well. Round count for today was 82. Now that we learned some things it will go much faster next month. Using reactive steel made spotting/scoring much easier.

Results just went out. Let me know if you didnt get them.

Some pics of the targets we used yesterday. When you hit the target the plate falls backwards and leaves a hole, they just have not been repainted yet. Typical Biathlon targets. Also used at the Chevy Truck Sportsmans Team Challenge.

We will have a match this Saturday Sept 19. First match start time 8:30am, second 12. We only have room for 20 shooters for first match, 25 for second match.

If you want to shoot please email chris "at" 3gunstuff.com with your name and which match you want to signup for. Signups will only be accepted until we run out of spots, or before 5pm Friday, whichever comes first.

Fun match Saturday. We upped the accuracy requirement by making the small target a 3 inch diamond at 300 yards.

The position of the day was seated on our quad using a pack for a rest and only one other bag for support. No bi-pods, no sticks. Straight up shooting.

My awesome niece shot my Bighorn 223 Ackley and beat up on a lot of dudes in the process.

We also had a Ruger bolt gun in 243 show up and do quite well.

JPs newest sponsored shooter, Connor D also showed up to kick some butt.

One dude was not scared by a cast on his left foot. Showed up and shot anyway.

Next Sunday, Tactical Rifle. Be there.

The precision rimfire will start November. 50-250 yards.

This Saturday. See you there.

And for the brave souls out there, Sunday is precision rimfire. All biathlon targets ranging from 50-220 yards. Sizes and shapes will vary but average from 2-4 MOA.

For the small bore shooters...

Taking lessons learned from previous matches, here is how things will go as of now.

There will be 8 total target arrays with a total of 76 targets. Seven of the arrays have ten targets and the close (50 meters) array has six. All eight arrays will be numbered with a big sign.

Four of the arrays will be at a known distance. 50, 100, 150 and 200 meters.

The remaining arrays will be at various distances to ensure any misses impact a berm.

Four shooters will be shooting at a time. They will engage their two designated arrays each while the on deck shooters spot and keep score.

You have one shot per target. If you miss, it is a lost target and you can not reengage it.

There are no time limits for your 20 shots, but don't drag your feet or playful verbal banter will ensue. If you are a delicate flower, your feelings might get hurt.

As soon as you finish shooting, you clear your rifle, put it away and wait for others to finish shooting. As soon as everyone is done the shooters head downrange to set and paint their own targets while the on deck shooters get ready.

With the new arrays/plan, we will not have to reset any targets in the middle of a string.

If the plan does not work, we can change/tweak it. I am not married to any plan as this is the first match.

As always, eye protection is 100% required and there is no gun handling of any type while people are down range.
