Tell us more about the build - smith, barrel length, expected overall weight, intended scope and mounts (MOA).

Looks like an unlimited range rig. Correct? Do you have a place to stretch it out (well beyond 2000 yards)?

Thanks.

Building for ranges of 1500 plus only. Not many places I can shoot but
would love to take it to Wyoming and really stretch the distance.
Cheytac makes a solid machined alloy bullet that has a 0.988 BC which is what
I am starting with. It holds the current world record of 3800 yards.
Bought the Stiller Tac 408 1.60 inch single shot action a year ago. Hard to find a barrel but I got
hooked up with Bugholes of Southern Precision Rifles, who lives less than an
hour from me. He ordered the barrel and it took around 3 months. Bartlein
1.450 straight, 36 inch, 15 lb. Will finish 35 inch.
Bugholes had a 375 Cheytac reamer and did the barrel to action fitting.
I talked to Sam Hall and he had a Scoville carbon fiber stock he was willing to
part with. The stock has 6 inch wide forearm and 2.5 inch rear. Barrel channel
is offset to right to account for torque.
The 10.5 inch action was too long for the block. Tracy Milsap, aka Big Bore Bat Shooter,
made a new block for the long action. He is cutting a slot in it for the extra two
inches of action to fit into. Also to help the block hold her, he is milling a slot in
the steel block a recoil lug. Tracy has long range experience with his 338 Improved
and 375 Snipe Tac.
Tracy is building a custom clam shell muzzle brake with 5 vents on each side.
40 MOA Stiller rail came with action.
The first scope to go on it will be my NF ACTAR with 125 MOA built in.
If this does not get me out where I want to be, I have a set of long range
IVEY RINGS that have 150 moa or an adjustable IVEY RAIL that has 150 MOA in
the rail. Barrett 10 / 30 adjustable rings could also be used.
I think the 40 moa rail with 150 in scope with be sufficient.
Barrel 15 lb
Stock 18 lb
Total weight with brake, action, trigger, scope should be 40 plus.

Brake should look like this Kirby Allen Pain Killer brake

Here is the Cheytac 0.988 BC bullet

Nice build sheet and write up. Thanks.

Is the twist of your barrel to the right or to the left? Seems if to the right the wide part of the stock (the offset) would be on the right (not on the left as shown in your first pic).

BTW, the ATACR is 120 MOA (60 up). I suggest against getting very close to max elevation because at that position basically all your windage is gone.

Have you tried the Ivey (I'm assuming it is the "old" model, not the new - http://iveyshooting.com/index.php?)? I have one and find it pretty clunky. Actually, other than having it lapped in I have yet to use it. [And may never - since I have a couple of MOABs.] Re Ivey - worth reading at http://www.longrangehunting.com/forums/f116/adjustable-base-rings-161767/

There are closer alternatives that WY - see http://elr-resources.com/page8.html

Warner Tool will be releasing some .375 pills in '16 (http://www.scout.com/military/snipers-hide/forums/5530-elr-beyond-1000/13977095-flatliner-bullets-revival-of-the-30-cal-bullet - near the end of the current thread). I have some of their .338s and the workmanship is stellar! [I have yet to run the ogive numbers or weights but I expect them to be very good.]

Lastly, I'm a bit confused about making the barrel block longer because the action is longer. I understand that you need to enlarge/lengthen the action cutout in the stock but the barrel block fits up to the barrel, not the action. Please explain further.

Thanks.

Not making the barrel block longer. Milling a slot for the 10.5 inch action to fit up into
so that the trigger and bolt will sit in their slots in the stock.

I have used my Iveys and they worked very well. Steven Ivey lives in Murfreesboro, Tn
about an hour from me. I also have his adjustable 150 moa picatiney rail that you dial
up the amount of moa you need.

Offset. Sam Hall and the two gun smiths said it would work.

I have original bill of sale, title, and owners manual.

You go to a car show and see that everybody has their own loves. Thats the beauty in different auto designs- theres one for everybody. I just remember seeing the c3 vettes very rarely as a poor young lad and fell in love. Lost my 77 l82 and 98 c5 in a divorce. I still get weak kneed around any vette. But i can see your live for the truck- it is a beautiful piece of americana. I wasnt shorting it at all!!
