State Vintage Sniper Match Update

Hey guys John wants to come home from Akron this weekend to shoot in the Vintage Sniper State match. He thought he had a partner, but it fell through. He is doing great in school, and pretty good in club Rifle team, but he needs a break. I'd be grateful if one of you guys could shoot with him, don't have to be great this is stress release. The range is outdoors in Borden Indiana. Plus I'm going to be there, good Lord willing.

Thanks Paula and John

Thanks guys. One of the draw backs to having a kid in college 7 hours away is I can't yell into his bedroom for an answer. Second drawback is they call past your bedtime, honestly though I don't mind, I really miss him. Great news is a gentleman from Evansville is coming up to shoot with John on Saturday. That allows John's team to be eligible to compete for the state championship. I'm not holding my breath, because he hasn't shot anything but air/SB for ever, but he can relax, and have a little fun. Thanks guys, you all are the best. So glad to be a member here. You all take care, hopefully I have more to report on John later.

Thanks
Paula.

Well everything started great, one of you fine gentleman from Evansville agreed to be his partner, and he'd be home Friday. Wednesday night he calls says his stomach had been hurting a week, now he couldn't sleep. Called his coach, and got him to an ER. Thirteen hours later they finally see him. Pre ulcer gastritis. So he was put on a steady diet of Maalox, and pepcid. He came on home because he really loves the vintage sniper match. Ten min before the match his partner pulls out with truck issues. Lucky a nice guy named Bill let him take his spot. John owned a 1903 A4 with a 2.5x scope that he had never shot yet. It's what he could afford at the time. Competing against 1941 rifles with 8x power scope is quiet the challenge, but John was shooting for fun anyway. He did pretty good with a 94 on the 300y and a 95 at the 500 y target. He is team aptly named, The Leftovers, finished 3rd. I was able to go watch, and had a very good time. There is some discussion that he may work with me this summer to see if I can shoot with him next year. With my bleeding disorder I can't shoot a large number of rounds, or big kickers, but I believe I could do this. John got me into modern military, so this idea has merit. Thanks all of you for your knowledge and support.

Paula

Boy, that vintage sniper match sounds like a heap of fun. Is it US hardware only, or do you see a lot of Russians, Swedes, and Germans too?

There are other countries as well. Before the 1903A4 John was working on a Mosin Nagant PU. I think if he would have had the higher powered scope there would be no stopping him. 94/95 with 2.5x scope was very good. That boy can shoot anything, it's just a gift.

Sounds like fun!
Might have to see about picking up a Swedish Mauser.
I just don't see my M1 Carbine being competitive. Lol
