Starline Brass Suggestions & Mfg. Response

Been asking em off and on for a 218 bee case for years. Don't hold your breath. At the end of the day they gotta make stuff that sells. Probably isn't enough market for 218, hornet, 221, etc.
I hear you. Your right on the 218 bee. It's all about demand! I want to show them there is a demand in the varminting world, especially on the more popular parent cases.

I too have asked numerous times for the 218 Bee. I actually think that the whole point of Starline brass was to keep classics still running. I've got three beautiful old single shot rifles chambered in cartridges that use Bee brass and would love to use them more. It also pains me that the ubiquitous 22-250 is on the ropes due largely in part to the latest flavor of the Creedmoor, how long till that one is kicked to the curb? Hornet brass if in their lineup would sell steadily I'm sure. The point is if they make it, high volume varmint shooters would buy it. 6mm Remington and 257 Robert's are favorites too.I wish they could pick one and try, consider it a marketing experiment and see, the 221 fireball would be an easy one for them to do and then we all could prove our theory and buy the heck out of it. If Todd Kindler could get Lapua to make 221 I would hope Starline would see that there is a market for it, look at the price people are willing to pay for it when and if it ever comes up in the classified adds. Just think Starline can clean up through all the tariff wars too.

The whole point of putting your $ at risk when you form a company is to make money, and recoup your investment. Making cases that don't sell enough to attain this goal isn't in the cards. There is no tooth fairy. :)

I know rifles by Winchester and Sako were chambered for it, but would guess that it is a small number and exists for rifle reactionaries? Any of you Bee owners making them from 25/20?

They do actually make 222 Rem brass.

I would really like to see 222 Rem Mag brass from them as that is what I like to use to make my TCU brass.

A list of other brass I would like to see from them:
  • 7-30 Waters (yes I know I can just use 30-30, but having correctly headstamped brass would be great)
  • any of the SAUMs
  • any of the WSMs
  • 256 Win
  • 25-06
  • 220 Swift
  • 6.5 PRC

If they'd just make 221FB brass, most of us would be happy. Just look how hard it's become to find the stuff at a reasonable price. With all the cartridges that can be made from FB brass, it seems it would be a profitable item for them.

I've spent time in John Nosler's office trying to convince him to produce 20VT brass and ammo, but the mantra there seems to be "bigger is better" in terms of big game cartridges. Pity, as they're completely set up to make FB brass and have done it in the past. I've still got an unopened/sealed box of it in my gun room, so they can do it.

I agree. 221 FB at least.

Many of the "big" brass makers used to run the yearly batch of oddballs. Now it seems no one does, despite the fact that the reloading companies have been selling equipment at ever increasing rates for the last 15 years.
Sometimes doing the oddball stuff creates goodwill that cannot be directly measured in yearly sales...it takes a decade to develop a reputation and a day to lose it.

Asked them about making 22 ARC a while back, either got a no reply or they had no plans. Not a surprise, they probably got burnt by 224 valkyrie, and don't want to go down that road again.

I'd like that and 17 Hornet, but I have no idea of the hornet's popularity.

Of course, everybody here with reasonable suggestions and they go and make 329 DE? What a niche cartridge. Wow, just wow.

Baby steps here guys. As it's already been mentioned, they do not always reply, nor do they have the time to reply to every one's suggestion as stated. Yes, I believe they should, but they do not. Remember the plan here. I want to cut and paste and send them this link. Sometime this week I plan to do it. I plan to do it several times till I get a reply. then the corresponding will commence! Patients......

Snert mentioned what I would have, I’ll post it again so they will see it though. Every one of those are solid suggestions and cartridges I’m constantly on the look out for. I added a couple more too.

221Fireball !!!!!!!!!
20Vartarg
22 PPC USA/6PPC USA !!!!!!!

220 Russian
222 mag or 5.6x50 RWS (makes a better than 222 Mag)
22-250
250 Savage
25-20
257 Roberts

I am happy they make as many as they do. I order quite a bit from them, last order was for their 38-55 brass.

Would love to see .218 Bee brass, been sending requests periodically. You can form brass from their 32-20, but it’s way short, as seen in the middle case between a factory Winchester and Hornady loaded round.

Its interesting that most of these "obsolete" cases were available pre-covid, but dried up during the China mess and has yet to fully recover. Its as if it gave the makers time to take stock and push marginal sellers to the back of the line, to see the light of day only very occasionally.
