218 Bee brass...

Myself and a few others have asked Starline about making 218 Bee brass. The current answer is to make it from 32-20,that really doesn’t work as the base diameter is not correct for this.My point is after seeing Dennis’s post on the 218 Mashburn Bee,I realized maybe if enough of us asked Starline again we might get some results.Seems like a lot of guys shoot wildcats based on Bee brass.I myself shoot 17Ackley Bee,17HeBee and the 218 Bee as well. What do you guys think, would you like an alternative to Hornady and the very rarely made Winchester?I really like the quality and value of Starline.

I shoot a 218 Mashburn Bee (built in Art Mashburn's shop in OKC in the early 60's) and a 17 Ackley Bee both on Martini actions. I certainly would be interested in a more dependable brass source.

I'm happy Hornady is making 218 Bee brass. Right now on gun broker there are 7 bolt action 218 Bee's for sale... not exactly a high volume brass market

Wow! You would be the one to talk to about loads for the Mash Bee. I am about to try H4198 and Accurate 1680 for a 40 grain Vmax. I have a lot of powder and just wondering what your loads were and how fast. Thanks in advance.

we have tried this before and if I remember correctly, he had a good reason for not wanting to make 218bee brass, something about tooling/ equipment. I hate making 218bee brass out of 32 20, so I hope you are successful.

I have had the best success with AA2200 and the 40g Vmax bullet. My rifle will hold about 2" at 200 yards. I suspect AA1680 might be a bit fast for the 218 M Bee although I've used in my 22 K Hornet with great success. With 4198, you'll probably need to weight every charge.

Thanks for that.

I am speaking only for myself. You posted a while back about a Mashburn Bee being sold by your buddy whose dad had died. Several of us responded. You came across as an enthusiast who was interested in the caliber. You even sent me a PM requesting load data. You made a similar post about an Ackley Hornet, also inherited by your buddy.
I short order, you had the Mashburn rifle and brass for sale.
I can only surmise that you are taking advantage of your buddy, or, you are helping your buddy out.
If the latter, I wish you good luck with the sale. If the former, well, I have some Bee brass and can get by with what I have.
From where I sit, your posts come across as mercenary.

Yes, I was wondering about it for a while for my rifles, but I've sold the rifle and now want to sell the brass. You can surmise what you wish.

My price of the Winchester 218 Bee brass has been lowered again. I thought everyone was after this brass?
This was true before Hornady stepped up and recently started making 218 Bee and 22 Hornet brass. Now Bee & Hornet brass is readily available.

Correct. Just saw Hornady Bee brass on sale at Midway. $33/50.
Plus, free shipping over $100.
