standard to magnum...

i was just wondering if I would have to modify the action of a standard 30-06 to shoot something like the 300RUM? would I have to modify the bolt? just wondering...

To the best of my knowledge the 300RUM is based on the 404 Jeffreys cartridge. Opening the bolt face is probably a must. The length of the cartridge I am not sure of, but I don't believe it will quite fit. I am pretty sure you can use the 300 Win mag thru an 06 action though. I have used an 06 for years and it is a good cartidge, not the speed of the 300 mag series. But quite accurate with a good barrel & handloads. Good Luck

May have to do a little more work to get it to feed from the magazine too. That .300 RUM case is a fat one!
