Great specs for a .284 reamer. Mines close with a .318 neck. No turn and runs the 180s fine.I have a .319 neck and .195 freebore for 284 Winchester reamer.

Yes I have only chambered a few barrels with that reamer for an old friend and F-class shooter Don Nagel we lost him a few years back he had me spec that reamer for him to shoot the 180 class bullets.Great specs for a .284 reamer. Mines close with a .318 neck. No turn and runs the 180s fine.
It seems a little different seeing a match shooter using a .320 neck. Typically I see .312/.313 neck chambers for competition shooters. I don't shoot competition but rather only hunt with my rifles so that .318-.320 neck works best for me. Obviously that .320 neck worked for him. Don Nagel was on the US team in F class several times and I'm sure he knew what he was doing he did not like to turn necks he was the first class shooter. It seems a little different seeing a match shooter using a .320 neck. That was my meaning. I hear so much about needing to turn necks for best accuracy yet he had a no turn neck chamber. Goes to show how important some things really...Aren't.Don Nagel was on the US team in F class several times and I'm sure he knew what he was doing he did not like to turn necks he was the first class shooter.
Some brass is real thick to begin with. Back then id bet he was using win brass and had to skim turn or a bit more to get to the .320. The thin neck reamers are from using lapua 6.5x284 brass. Hate to disagree with ya, but....
The standard SAAMI 284 Win has a really long freebore!
Remember it was originally chambered in Winchesters model 100 semi auto.
Long freebores were the order of the day to keep pressures down.
I screwed an E.R. Shaw barrel on a commercial Mauser & used a SAAMI reamer to set the headspace.
Using a 160gr Sierra HPBT GameKing touching the lands is barely in the case neck.
You MIGHT be ok with 180s.
But if it doesn't shoot, switch over to Sierra's.
Don't waste your time & money if the Bergers don't shoot!
