No turn chamber question

.284 Win is the caliber. I want a no turn neck in a match chamber. I'll be using 180 gr Bergers and 6.5-.284 Lapua brass. I plan to use neck bushing dies. I've seen reamers cut to various dimensions from .313-.3175. Does it make a difference if one uses the appropriate neck bushing to provide .003 clearance? Suggestions/advice appreciated.

The easiest way to determine this is to seat a bullet in one of your neck up cases and measure. Add .003-.004 and that's your number

You can't use a bushing to provide clearance. The bushing will only provide so called neck tension. Clearance is determined by neck thickness of the brass and diameter of the bullet. If you want .003 clearance on a no turn neck do as Rick said and measure a loaded round before you order your reamer.

I think he wants info so he can get goin on his reamer. So the answer hes lookin for (using lapua necked up) can either be answered by the reamer maker- simple enough- or hes just wanting info for his own personal thinkin ahead in which the answer from experience is .320 is a good number. Hope this answered his question simply enough

This might be a serious question,Hog. Let me answer it. I order a reamer and have a gunsmith use it to chamber my barrel. A week later, I send him another barrel with the same reamer so it matches the first barrel. A "match" chamber!;);):confused::confused::) Write?

No It does not make a difference. BUT No turn and .313 does not compute, with a .003 clearance.
