Stabilizing the 53 gr Vmax

One thing to remember about the 53's, they do not have a match grade jacket.

Sierra 50 and 55g Blitz kings do have match grade jackets, this is why they cost a tad more and are worth it. 55g Blitz kings work best in a 12 twist.

I have had more trouble getting the 53's to shoot very tight groups in the 2's or less than any other 22 caliber cup and core bullet in my custom rifles.

What use is it to get a high bc bullet if you don't have the accuracy to go with????

55g Nosler ballistic tips gives great performance on quartering shots on coyotes.

I don't know of any stability issues other than when shot in 1-14 barrels when their owner's though they should shoot even though the bullet mfgr says they won't. A question. Can you give me any proof that a gun will kill one more Pdog shooting in the .2's as opposed to shooting in the .3's or .4's??? Expecially when they have a higher bc with less wind deflection?? Unless you are shooting a match or a bragging group, .2 will never matter. FYI, nothing wrong with shooting bragging groups as most all of us do it.

Run a ballistic's chart on a 55g Sierra Blitz king and a 53g V max, both doing 3500.

We shoot a lot of the mini clay pigeons at 400 yards. These small clay's measure 1 3/4".....4's don't cut the mustard, but 2's will break them and allow you to shoot any small pieces that are left over....real world...not theory.

I shoot the 53vmax in a 1n12..... 220 swift it does well when I aint mr shakkkkkky, mr shakky comes then I need a 1200 lbs rifle

Strelok pro Sierra bk .271 3500 17.3" drift at 400 Hornady 53 Vmax .290 bc 15.9" drift at 400 OR the Vmax is .33 MOA better in the wind. Add to that most .4 groups I have shot might have 1-2 shots that open to .4 from .2 or less. If you reread my post I said shooting Pdogs/ varmints. I also said the ONLY time it would make a difference was shooting targets or bragging groups, and you are shooting targets. .2's over .4's don't matter when shooting varmints in the wind, "unless" you are shooting much past 400 yards trying a headshot on a chipmunk. I can also add for .10 less a shot.

Well I can confirm that you cannot cheat with speed. I tried them @ 4200 FPS out of my 22 CHeetah 1-15” twist and out of 10, zero hit a 2’x4’ target board
