We had a great morning for shooting at the St Louis Benchrest Club. We had 26 shooters show up and we were greeted by calm conditions early in the day that turned switchy later on. We had some outstanding scores! John Ross set a new record with a 300-21X shooting Bench Open See his scorecard below. Look at those x's on the first relay!! Congrats John!

Thanks to all of those who came out. Our next match is July 10th which will be the Midwest Championships. More to come on the details soon, keep posted. Good shooting and see all of you on the line soon!

-Pete

Ryan and Pete you guys shot great. Anytime you can go clean in an FTR match that is an accomplishment.

John's scorecard is sick.

Great shooting everyone. I'm curious about your Bench/Open class. Do any other clubs shoot this discipline. I ask because of vascular problems in my neck it would be much less painful if I could shoot off of a bench instead of prone.

Thanks Keith, I shot my left over Shehane ammo from Reade including one relay with fire-form loads. Was happy with the result! I was shooting for 10's and it worked. Learned a lot at Reade in terms of mirage and flag relationship.

Swampshooter: I know there is talk of other clubs implementing a bench/open class, however I am unsure of who is doing it. It is an excellent way for those who either have physical limitations or would rather shoot off the bench. We have a good turnout of the bench class shooters. The only issue with having a bench class is 1: having a location with benches and 2: being sure to squad relays where the bench shooters and ground shooters are shooting separate relays for safety reasons.

I feel that any club that has unsanctioned "club" style matches like this should consider a bench class if viable. It will increase shooter turnout by allowing people who want the option of shooting off the bench.

forum member immike has talked to many people in the past about getting a bench class and he may know of some locations that hold them besides St. Louis.

Thanks and good shooting!
